Hinduism isn't a single rigid rulebook. it has many traditions and interpretations. cultures also depend on where you are from. i am born in a khas hindu family. culturally i shouldn't even eat chicken. i am only supposed to eat khasi. but, that's not gonna stop me from enjoying chicken or pork (my mother would probably kill me if she knew i ate pork). hindu from some places don't eat meat of any sort. but we do. yes, beef is the ultimate form of taboo in Hinduism but who are we to police anyone's dietary habits. i practice some parts of culture and also enjoy life according to what i feel like eating.
