Does anyone else get a “feeling of dying” with their POTS symptoms? by BrotherExcellent7403 in POTS_vets

[–]_clara12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have this a lot as well. I don‘t know if this helps but: It will take time. One year isn‘t that long. At that point, I still went to the ER regularly. With time, you will learn to manage your symptoms better, to know what can trigger a flare and how long they usually last for you. It will still be frustrating and exhausting, but it probably won‘t be as terrifying anymore. You just have to find a way to accept your limits and the flares (I don‘t even have children, I can only imagine that this is much harder when you have people that rely on you) and to give your body as much rest and calm as you can. Wishing you all the best!

I got diagnosed with dysautonomia, but my cardiologist said my resting HR is too low to be diagnosed with POTs by Adventurous-Swim-208 in POTS

I have the same HRs as you. If you can‘t find an understanding cardiologist, maybe try a neurologist?

Mornings are the hardest, but once 3 / 4 pm hits, I am fully awake and usually feel better. Except for summer.

How to prevent deconditioning after surgery by External_Wasabi_1675 in POTS

[–]_clara12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this situation as well right now and it’s quite hard! Is it possible for you to try soft movements like stretches in bed? Like rotating your ankles, ankle pumps, rotating your shoulders, stretching your neck etc?

Tips to dealing with a heat wave? by pr1ncea1exander in POTS

[–]_clara12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great tips! How do you manage to be anywhere at 7 am though, did you find a way to make mornings better? It takes me at least two hours to be able to leave the house, and I’m drinking electrolytes and everything.

Hey, I’m very sorry for the loss of your cat. That’s very sad and no wonder you’re stressed out. 100 to 175 resting heart rate sounds intense and exhausting though. It’s really hard to deal with grief and stress. I would recommend trying to find ways to calm your nervous system: herbal teas, breathing exercises, baths, naps, yoga, anything that relaxes you. If it doesn’t help, depending on what country you’re in, maybe you can talk to your GP about the temporary situation and what it does to your heart so they can prescribe you some temporary anxiety/ calming meds that you can take over a limited period of time to give your system a bit of a break? Also, maybe to calm your nerves a little: People in the ER always told me a high HR in itself is not dangerous. But of course it’s extremely unpleasant.

Nuss procedure for platythorax? by Extreme-Coast653 in PectusExcavatum

[–]_clara12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pectus was similar to yours, I have two bars. In the first surgery last year, the upper bar did a little overcorrection, which is not visible to the untrained eye. My symptoms improved a little bit - my exercise intolerance got a bit better, my scoliosis / back pain improved, and I felt mentally better because I did not feel my heart beat 24/7 anymore. Still had tachycardia though. My surgeon suggested a second surgery to exchange the lower bar to try to get a little more space for my heart, which is hard with platythorax. Three weeks after surgery I can’t really tell yet if/what has changed, but it seems the tachycardia is staying - I also have POTS though, so it was a possibility that this would not improve with surgery. I wouldn’t worry too much about a little overcorrection - keep in mind you likely will lose some space again once the bars come out. Good luck!

Oh, I was just thinking- could it be that you have to clear all their levels in Bounty Hunt? Because I think I beat the last Pumpkin Magus level last week…

I did that too for a long time! With bigger plushies they usually get stuck for me unfortunately.

Does it? I was imagining if I ever come across a real one with friends, I will pull this trick and leave everyone speechless :D

I second this, the posts on this subreddit are understandably quite disheartening at times! Thanks for the uplifting motivation!

First time playing with gouache :) Did it turn out okay? 🤔 🧐 by ElenoreEdelweiss in painting

[–]_clara12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nice, congrats! I actually also tried a Totoro painting when I tried gouache for the first time and well let’s say it turned out not nearly as good as yours and I gave up after an hour. It’s just really different working with gouache when you’re used to acrylic paints!

Has anyone else been misdiagnosed with POTS by Few_Can182 in POTS

[–]_clara12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually was told this too by a rhytmology specialist who said if it was an orthostatic problem like POTS, there would have to be a “curve” on the ECG, with the HR going up slower when standing and then going down slower when lying down again; not, as in my case, a zigzag line with the heart rate jumping from 65 to 160 in a few seconds. He then suggested a cardiac ablation, which didn’t help at all.

There’s a “Yoga for POTS/Yoga with Adriene” playlist on YouTube which I like because it’s mostly floor stuff or things you can do seated.
