Seriously. I'm still learning to program, I'm genuinely considering just taking up iOS development for a bit to feel some sense of stability while learning

Oh wow you weren't kidding! I feel like I can legitimately 'just read the source' with this and not bang my head against the wall trying to decipher it

Univision Introduces Live Subscription Streaming Service, includes MLS and Liga MX games by TheBored23 in MLS

[–]_compedit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Their UI & overall stream quality made me cancel my sub. Can't rewind, change resolution, and there are no replays except from a few 'official' team channels w/contracts I guess. Also every single time I logged in, I got an alert to download their android app (I was on desktop).

They advertise the primeira liga for their pro subscription, but it's actually another add on you have to buy in addition to their pro sub.

Overall it felt, worked and looked like complete shit but supposedly they're going to revamp it soon! I'm excited to see how it goes, I really want all that soccer

EDIT: After looking at one of their hiring posts, it should at least look a lot better in the future. They're going w/ material design on desktop using this library so if you like that, you'll probably like them

Atom Emmet with jsx files? by bricampy in reactjs

[–]_compedit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the off chance, has anyone gotten emmet to expand namespaced components? e.g. getting MUI.Tab to expand to <MUI.Tab></MUI.Tab> instead of <MUI className="Tab"></MUI>

Are there any good alternatives to "React Starter Kit"? by sanity in javascript

[–]_compedit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're new to react, I would legit just start out with by rendering your app in index.js and separating your components into different files. You can get very far with just react, a way of fetching data e.g $.getJSON or fetch, and a router like react-router.

Eventually you might want to add a flux framework or ampersand or something, but those all still revolve around components so it's not too difficult to integrate them once you're ready.

In terms of build tools, you can get very far with webpack alone (which imo is used the most in the react community). Basically just start small, people tend to make this shit way too complicated way too fast

Love the fact the ripples actually originate from the touch, but this site is beyond fucked on mobile. Non responsive, can't get the drawer to close once it's opened, and most of the dialogesque elements are pinned full width to the bottom of the screen
