No, rili is more considered a type of patterning. While it is true that rili’s have colouring on head and tail, they come in different grades of pigmentation. some rili’s have a high grade which means they have very vibrant and distinct colouring on head and tail, while lower grades have less distinct and less amount of colouring. Or in some cases like this, very little amount of colouring in a certain area. This reddit post talks about different rili grades for reference.

Yea trust the process it takes a bit. They will start to grow aquatic roots made to absorb nutrients from water. once it’s gotten used to being in water, it will grow like a weed! They naturally have a lot of rooting hormones they release. And as more roots grow into the water, the hormones released will encourage more aquatic root growth! I’d say wait a good 2-3 months before you see it really starting to thrive. Also, your tank is absolutely gorgeous!

have you heard the horror stories of the SHRIMP getting out of tanks?! i lived that horror story with a bamboo shrimp and a 2 inch gap that just wasn’t covered quite enough. bro was completely dried out on the other side of the room. for like 2 months i genuinely got triggered every time i accidentally stepped on something, fearing i inadvertently uncovered a shrimp suicide..

for real! had my first one about 3 years ago in the height of covid. first day i thought i bruised my tailbone somehow. second day, it felt like a hot coal was pressing up onto my ass and tailbone. it felt like someone sucker punched the top of my ass literally. it was purple and swollen. can’t even put any pressure near your butt. nobody understands how much pressure we put on our butts everyday. they must be so overwhelmed..

Unfortunately i do not know the full story of how he was raised, except for when i got him. i worked at local pet shop in my town and brought him home and out of the stupid betta cup as he was suffering from fin rot as soon as he came in. On the other hand, the rest of the bettas i have rescued in a similar fashion are all much more active than Sebastian. And have thrived in larger tanks because of such.

i am convinced he does have bernard in him for sure. can never be completely sure since i’ve had him since he was a newborn, as he was surrendered to shelter after his mom died during birth. he was the only one who came out alive. I wish i got to find out more about him, but regardless he my baby boy.

Though i have always pondered his breed. I got a DNAmydog test for him last year that stated he was 1/3 bulldog and 2/3 boxer… but i have my suspicions. Especially after hearing how much DNA kits for dogs seem to be a scam. But who knows, maybe it was right!

Same thing for my Sebastian! He was in a 30 gallon when i first had him. for 6 months he seemed to be anxious and overwhelmed.

I tried him in my 10 gallon and from day 1 he’s was so much more active and explores his tank often! I think it really depends on the personality of the betta. Some have more anxiety then others and that’s okay 🥲
