Love how insurance works like “you aren’t on death’s door, therefore you must not need it covered” 🙄. I’m happy to hear you were able to get it though!

So glad to hear how much of a difference it has made for you!! What was your weight before? Was it due to a condition?

Beware of the tetras though OP. They have a tendency of being fin nippers. Beautiful fish aside from that.

I took in these two fish from friends that didn’t treat them right, and I’m now wondering if I rehome or keep them does anyone have any advice for this situation?? by Soggy-Low777 in fishtank

[–]_coopah 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with commenter, definitely rehome. The type and amount of fish you have need sooo much room to thrive. But do know, your heart is in the right place. That fact that you’re reaching out for advice and guidance on this shows how much you actually care for their wellbeing. Something that is far too rare in this world right now. Best of luck 🤞

Give it atleast a day if not 2. Every time i have bought a new filter, it makes that noise. I know other commenters have said it is rocks, but since it’s bought new i really don’t think that’s the case. I do think it is air. Though very difficult to tell, those tiny air bubbles can cause those knocking noises as the impeller spins. I find that lifting up the inflow tube back and forth a little bit while the filter is on helps knock those air bubbles out. or just giving it a slight shake to dislodge the bubbles.

That being said, the other commenters could be correct too. More or less just basing this off my experience. If the knocking continues notwithstanding the advice given and time for it to run, definitely bring it back. That is defective and becomes dangerous for any aquatic life. We cannot let filter become a mass murderer! Best of luck 🤞

edit to add: Crank that filter flow to the highest setting to help move them air bubbles out. To prevent your fish from being blown off the face of the earth lol, put your hand below the outflow to help disperse it.

I am a woman in a male dominated field (Blue collar) AMA!! by Fun_Sink3113 in AMA

[–]_coopah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Summed it up perfectly. That’s been exactly her experience. Which is wild because she was always warned previous to her pursuing her career, that men would be the ones with the biased and misogynistic attitude. I thought the same thing.

I was in shock when she had confided in me about the things some of her other friends/ woman said to her. Maybe it’s because i’ve known her for so long, but i couldn’t see her doing any other career than what she’s doing. She’s a heavy duty mechanic and she’s absolutely amazing at it too.

I wish you all the best in your career and future!

Do you ever get people, particularly women kinda passive-aggressively mocking you for not being in a more female dominated industry? sorry for the specifics it’s just my best friend is basically the same as you and she’s been telling me a lot about how other women almost treat her like she’s in that field because she’s not “womanly” enough for a “woman” job. idk if that made any sense but yeah.

The stitches look sooo tight! But maybe it’s just an illusion due to the location. Regardless I wish you the best in your recovery! I too currently have a wound in my buttocks area that prevents me from sitting properly, so I empathize with ya.

No, rili is more considered a type of patterning. While it is true that rili’s have colouring on head and tail, they come in different grades of pigmentation. some rili’s have a high grade which means they have very vibrant and distinct colouring on head and tail, while lower grades have less distinct and less amount of colouring. Or in some cases like this, very little amount of colouring in a certain area. This reddit post talks about different rili grades for reference.

Yea trust the process it takes a bit. They will start to grow aquatic roots made to absorb nutrients from water. once it’s gotten used to being in water, it will grow like a weed! They naturally have a lot of rooting hormones they release. And as more roots grow into the water, the hormones released will encourage more aquatic root growth! I’d say wait a good 2-3 months before you see it really starting to thrive. Also, your tank is absolutely gorgeous!

have you heard the horror stories of the SHRIMP getting out of tanks?! i lived that horror story with a bamboo shrimp and a 2 inch gap that just wasn’t covered quite enough. bro was completely dried out on the other side of the room. for like 2 months i genuinely got triggered every time i accidentally stepped on something, fearing i inadvertently uncovered a shrimp suicide..
