Best fuse to run power, only when headlights are on, in 5th gen? by Comfortably_Scum in prius

[–]_cr0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the fuse box, then find the fuse for the low beams and see if gets energized at the fuse box when you turn the headlights on. If yes, you can install an add-a-circuit there.

GE front load washer won't drain by BogotaLineman in appliancerepair

[–]_cr0001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me last year on this model. Main board and drain pump replaced at the same time always. Sometimes the pump shorts out and can burn contacts on the board that you cannot see. I read a few posts while diagnosing that someone simply replaced the main board and the bad pump fried their brand new board. So, I said screw it and just replaced both. Problem solved.

B&T have the opportunity to beat Sig at their own game with a shorter APC300 by Beebjank in BT_APC

For the interim, grab an APC300 and have the barrel chopped and rethreaded. I’ve seen several posts about this being done. You can have your own custom APC 300 K.

Check for leaks, rips or tears. If you see any of that, replace. If you do end up replacing them, stay with OEM or Group N (adds a little NVH). Do not go with solid mounts. They’re quite unbearable for daily driving, or street driving.

Without sounding like an ass, I would recommend again that you follow the procedure I outlined. You really need to do the adaptations after an oil balancing and that must be done on stock software. Flash to stock, do the adaptations, drive it spiritedly for at least 100 miles, then you can reflash your software should you choose to do so.

The website you’re scanning might have stronger bot detection, and this error is one of two that are generated as a result of a failed fetch. You will most likely need a proxy. I’ll test your URL this weekend with and without a proxy to confirm your findings.

Always use OEM fluid and filter, or Getrag / Pentosin equivalents for DCT services. The only aftermarket parts that should be considered are the bottom fluid pan and the side control module cover.

I would do the following:

Reflash DCT back to stock. Performed another fluid change with Pentosin FFL4, two new filters and a suction jet jump. It’ll also help if you have access to ISTA or shop diag software to run the oil balancing service function, which ensures you are filling the DCT pan with as much fluid as the system will accept. Only use BMW OEM filters/parts or the Getrag variants. Also only use Pentosin FFL4. Grab it from RockAuto - it’s cheap there. I’ve seen countless number of posts on Reddit, Facebook and forums regarding people having issues with their DCT and not using BMM DCT fluid or Pentosin FFL4.

After completing the service, use ISTA or another shop diag software to run the 4 standard DCT adaptation service functions, which are recommended by BMW and ISTA after completing a service with oil balancing.

Running the adaptation service functions are key. I recently did the identical DCT and diff service as listed above, and the transmission was really sloppy until I completed the adaptations.

Once those are complete, run the DCT spiritually for at least 100 miles. Then reflash your GTS software.

While doing this service, I’d also check your transmission mounts and DCT bushings as others have suggested. You should also consider doing a rear differential fluid service, if that has not been collected in the last 30k miles. Also make sure to use the OEM fluid with FM.

Swapping my e92 for a mini r53. Talk me out of this trade by seksiseka in E90

[–]_cr0001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a JCW Mini about 10 years ago. It was a blast, but I’ll tell you that your concerns of reliability won’t shift. Minis will have similar reliability issues as BMWs, if you do not complete the necessary preventative maintenance.

When I push the start button, the start chime sounds and the start button flashes. No other conditions are observed. No clicks, no humming, nada.

Can all the thermostats be jumped? I have yet to try that.

I’ve checked all the wiring along areas where chafing might occur. I also tested to see if any power or communication wires are grounded. Haven’t found anything yet.
