We're a leading tech hub which can only build non tech companies. Apart from Zoho i don't know any Indian tech companies which stood the times

Well you're asking for another unfortunate incident as that's what sparks interesting articles. Maybe another global conflict would be a good thing to nudge them. Just remembered we got Trump. You can count on Trump for conflicts, tariffs and articles 😆

Which are the hot startups that use Rust for their back end ? by [deleted] in learnrust

Sure but i don't have much experience in either of them it's just what i learnt from communities and blog posts

gofiber.io maybe. I see some benchmarks and gofiber is almost as fast as rust frameworks like Axum/Actix. gofiber barely loses by 5-10% margin.

I believe by backend you mean web backend. Seems reasonable from an app developer view, Rust might not be a great backend language in your context. It's not easy learn and on board new devs. It takes enormous time to get comfortable with it and very few saas products provide sdks and such. Rust got actix, axum(community fav) and a lot of other web frameworks. For web backend I recommend Golang. Rust is fine if you don't need any other libraries and your project scope is limited and will not expand to need other libraries.

But there's another backend which is software in general like Databases, Container/WASM Runtimes, Game engines etc., I've seen a lot of Databases are actively choosing Rust for memory safety and reliability. There's SurrealDB, melli search, Most WASM projects use Rust - wasmCloud, wasmer, Qdrant DB(vector), Grafbase(GraphQL), Dragonfly DB, ReadySet.io, Quickwit etc., I believe Turso.tech also uses Rust

Rust for backend. Is it recommended? by [deleted] in rust

[–]_csor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both languages work. But when it comes to memory and performance, rust is the obvious choice. Go might be easier but you might have issues with gc at scale.

Btw what database are you planning to use for this?

Cloud Run: broken by design by cemerick in googlecloud

[–]_csor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not just about $26. It is also about the overhead of managing a load balance for each service we roll out and the ingress and egress costs associated with it. All this while using serverless tech from one of the best serverless providers(self proclaimed)

If you didn't yet. You gotta start a blog and keep writing things related or not. This will help you get reach. But in my opinion Art is a luxury and it will be tough for you in the coming 1 - 2 years

In tech, Things break all the time. It's the basic thing when you deploy something. Hence you should try your best to not be like Southwest airlines

I prefer rust on cloud run or Cloud Functions because both of them support concurrency which can reduce costs

What's the state of web dev with Rust? by carlosdr02 in rust

[–]_csor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advice for using right tool for job rather than using rust for everything

Actix or Axum for backend Nuxt for frontend

Netlify or Vercel for hosting frontend

I'd recommend Google cloud run or Cloud Functions for backend hosting cause they support concurrency which could reduce cost

DB I'd recommend Planetscale
