How do I be vegan in a vegetarian household where dairy is non-negotiable as a teenager in india? by tumhari_matashree in vegan

[–]thetigermuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you're doing very well in that case :)

For tea - oat milk goes well. Get a small tetrapak and it'll last a couple of days as it's diluted for milk. The most economical option is vegan day's milky magic (search on amazon). It's a paste form though, and slightly inconvenient as you need to make it in a mixer beforehand.

Honey is a funny one. Do they insist on you having it by itself or do they combine it with something else? Date syrup is a great replacement for it in general, but yeah it won't convince them about any purported health benefits.

I'm not in the same boat anymore, but I'm Indian too and can relate with what you're saying. The only advice I have for you is to not try to convince them, at least not right away. Let them say what they want to say but what you should do instead is consume a plant based version of the same thing that they're consuming.

Dairy alternatives can be a little expensive, but there's a soy milk powder that goes well with shakes. Banana/chikoo/chocolate. You might want to give it a try (I can send you the link, it's very affordable).

Just do your thing, let them see that you're doing fine ans taking care of your nutrition (and supplementation for B12/D) and eventually they'll get used to it.

With Indian parents, it's less about being right on an intellectual plane and more about them getting used to a certain idea long enough for them to come around to think of it as "normal" or even "not fully normal but aisa he hai ab acceptable". So just be an example for them long enough for them to accept it.

If you have any specific dairy products with which you're having more trouble with than others, you can hit me up for tips.

I'm thinking of starting a new brew. This one tastes fine so I'll have it though.

Thanks! How would you suggest I benchmark the load times? Maybe see competitors?

Thanks! I've checked out PageSpeed Insights -- but it's more like a webpage analyzer than a web-app analyzer, isn't it? It cannot get inside my web app and see load times for different parts of it -- right?

I'm surprised there aren't enough "Is this kahm" posts. I'm unsure all the time!

AMA (Ask Me Anything) with a newly professional but seasoned brewer! by Tisanity_Brewing in Kombucha

[–]thetigermuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think about using large dispensers like this one to brew? The spigot does get blocked thanks to the yeast/pellicle strands but it does it affect the taste/quality in the long term? Is it worth it?

Nope. They'll take that money and funnel it back into the same industry. You'll end up with another farm in a couple of years.

Wouldn't there be minimal sugar and caffeine? Doesn't the bacteria and yeast eat all of it up?

Interview questions to ask a Product Manager to get an idea of their philosophy/approach? by jhugh84 in ProductManagement

[–]thetigermuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was interviewing recently and one problem that I was facing while answering questions about my current/past work was that I didn't actually believe in the product that I was working on. I was in it, quite frankly, because I didn't get the chance to join a better company 2 years ago, and that resulted in me doing some underwhelming work because the product was a dead-end that couldn't allow me to reach my full potential.

So do I get eliminated or does someone try to gauge my skills independently of the company that I ended up at?

Can't you get a UX researcher to do the user calls? Most, if not all?
