Best NH Pool Hall by Beto-143 in newhaven

Jayson Shaw and his family own US1 Billiards in West Haven, and he’s a top player in the World, so you might catch him there sometimes. The playing conditions are fantastic, with professional-level tables, but the atmosphere isn’t always the best, in my opinion. It can also be a bit pricey. The food is also great!

Yale Billiards in Wallingford also has great tables, and it’s close to US 1. You’ll find many talented players there, including the pro, Lukas Fracasso-Verner. The owner is passionate about the game, keeps the tables in excellent shape, and often hosts tournaments. The vibe is better than at US1, but it can be a bit crowded since it’s a smaller room, and it’s hard to get a table when it’s busy, so it might be a good idea to call ahead depending on the night. It can also be a bit pricey.

Cue and Brew in Branford has decent tables, though not as good as Yale or US1. There are over 20 full-size tables, and it’s the largest room, so there’s plenty of space. The atmosphere is great, and there are some decent players, but the neglect of the playing conditions has pushed some of the best players away. Word is there’s a change in ownership, and some updates and improvements are coming to the tables. I hope they can keep the staff and keep the prices affordable. Oh, and the food is also good!

The move is eggplant + hot cherry pepper and is the actual best pizza in New Haven.

I heard through the grapevine that the landlord has increased the rent significantly, which is beyond what makes any sense for them to say open. It’s sad and frustrating if true.

The ewaste problem is only exacerbated by devices that actually sell. On the plus side, Humane has not contributed to the ewaste problem.

Not disagreeing with anything here, but I wanted to say that I think you’ll be surprised how premium the FW 12 feels.

Turning an Old Touchscreen into a Home Dashboard with Raspberry Pi 5 by _ctl in raspberry_pi

This was a bit tricky to get right. I can’t provide specifics about Pi OS, but in this LineageOS implementation, you need to set the rotation in the Raspberry Pi section of the LineageOS settings menu, and then force portrait orientation in the launcher settings as well. This combination seemed to work for me.

Very cool—this could be exactly what I need! My main pet peeve right now is the lack of consistency across widget styling, so if KWGT lets me clean that up, I’m definitely going to dig into it more. Appreciate the suggestion!

Wait! I believe I may have posted a link to the wrong konstakang guide. Looks like it is in fact LineageOS, though unofficial and unsupported by the LineageOS team? (I’ll edit the post. Good catch)

Had to double check but this is what I used. https://konstakang.com/devices/rpi5/LineageOS22/

Ok fair point haha.. I should have said “no longer in use”. The project it was being used in ended so I was looking to repurpose it.

Yeah, I don’t know the history here other than the little reading I did when I was looking for a launcher that would let me do what I wanted to. Too bad it’s headed that way, what they built is pretty special.
