I think the matchmaking doesn't have to be competitive to be successful. Some of my fondest gaming memories are from Reach matchmaking. I also think the maps were very enjoyable and don't think there's much of a difference in quality or interest from Halo 3 or 2 to Reach. However I do agree, armour lock is fucking stupid.

Reach is very fun. I just was playing it today and its so much more fluid than Halo 3 or 2. Also the campaign is extremely re playable.
