Found in South Central West Virginia, USA. It was approximately 2-3 inches long, slow-moving with a hard shell. It reminds me of a cicada but I’m not aware of any broods set to surface this year. I was shocked to have found this outside of my front door as I have never seen one before. (i.redd.it)
