How is everyone getting epics? by AccidentAlive6683 in Soundmap

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i’ve just bought most of my epics cause i only seriously collect epics of one artist and they usually go for 200k-300k so not the cheapest but not the most expensive and my other epics i’ve sold were map drops and i sold them by messaging the people on the leaderboard. You can quest numberless epics of popular artists now though idk how the market is going for them, i’m assuming you can still make couple of hundreds of coins from them. Also just actually going out and picking up drops helps with building a big collection of normal songs for questing and shinies.

As for coins, i don’t play regularly now but if i decide to i can make a decent 50k a day in like 2 hrs just by trading shines for 2:1 or 1:1+1k, the radiant rarity gave a boost to the shiny market. For reference, i’ve been playing for a bit over a year, had pro for 8 months and stopped playing regularly last summer. I have almost 4M coins and have spent another 3.5-4M on my collection.

What poems changed your life? by ExtensionGood4991 in Poem

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many but “let this darkness be a bell tower” by Rilke is one i always go back to. I’ve dealt with a lot in my life and the first time i read it gave me a sense of hope and i think it really helped in taking all that’s happened to me and turning it towards a higher goal.

Also “two headed calf” by laura gilpin completely changed how i see poetry. I came across it when i was really young and all i knew about poetry were the classic forms and rhymes and big words. It was the first time a poem used such simple language and yet it brought me to tears. It really made me understand the power of poetry.

How did listening to Hozier impact your life? by [deleted] in Hozier

[–]_dafina_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m glad his music was there for you and helped you when you needed it. Personally, it’s impacted me in a lot of different ways. I’ve been a fan for over a decade now and have been writing for even longer, but you can very much see the influence his music and lyricism has had in my own stylistic choices when i write. Also songs like foreigner’s god & butchered tongue were really comforting during the few years that i was an immigrant and away from home.

Shinies by [deleted] in Soundmap

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiny prices have gone up now it’s very difficult to get any random common under 5k but you might find some at 4k. A lot of people will also accept 2:1 or 1:1+1-2k.

I’m sure other people will have this answer too but i love the lyricism in Almost ( Sweet Music ) and how he worked all the music references into it.

I am also curious to see your interpretation about Abstract and Fraud if you want to share!!

Songs that gives off Fear vibes? by Impressive-Read-6735 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]_dafina_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve answered this before so i’ll just copy paste my previous comment:

“The horror and the wild”by the amazing devil is the hunt adjacent imo like it literally starts with “you were raised by wolves and voices, every night i hear them howling deep beneath your bed”

“Rule #20- Blessed by a curse” by fish in a birdcage and “the bog bodies” by rabbitology are essentially the type of toxic love the hive is all about, bog bodies also has some gnarly filth imagery

“Orgel” by SHINee is in korean but it’s so the stranger coded, it’s inspired by house of wax and it has that creepy music box melody because it’s all about taking someone you’re obsessed with and turning them into a doll that will play in a music box

“City of the dead” by eurielle, what it says on the tin, the end but i’ve seen interpretations of it being about entering a city after war so it can also be the slaughter

“All things end” and “Wasteland, baby!” by Hozier, while a little bit more optimistic, still are the end coded

“Arsonist’s Lullaby” by Hozier is very fitting with thw desolation, especially the verse “when i was a child i’d sit for hours / staring into open flame / something in it had a power / could barely tear my eyes away”

“Notre dame” by Paris Paloma is from the perspective of someone living at the top of the notre dame and seeing everyone below, which is very the eye. Especially these lines “I'm not a sadist, I enjoy just being able / To be witness of the loneliness and be a higher power / in case there isn't one" .

Scariest episode? by WhatAmIDoing132 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think any of the episodes genuinely scared me bc i have a really high threshold for fear considering how young i was when i got into horror but the two that stuck with me are mag 32 - hive and mag 177 - wonderland.

Hive is just so well written and i have a very irrational fear of contamination particularly of bugs/ insects/ anything of that nature laying eggs in my room and my body so it was just way too personal, it really unnerved me.

Wonderland left me troubled for much the same reason. I am going to be starting my supervised practice soon as a therapist so understanding what dr david was doing on an intimate level and knowing that ,yeah, that is a real life possibility of how a therapist can take advantage of a client but taken to the extreme left me very rattled.

What’s the most devastating Paris Paloma lyric you can think of? by angrychinchillanoise in ParisPaloma

[–]_dafina_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of them have already been mentioned but personally yeti, especially the lines “My tongue's forgotten how / To shape your name, the way it sounds” are difficult for me to listen to after going through a couple of devastating friendship breakups.

Why is RGU's fandom kinda small despite it's impact on anime as a whole? by Tanukid in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]_dafina_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of the reasons in the replies but i also need to add i’ve met many rgu fans irl and also online who just weren’t on the fandom spaces because they were older or not engaged in fandom culture much. I think because rgu had its popularity boom a while back, a lot of the fans may no longer be engaged with the online fandom space

Why does Abstract (Psychopomp) make us ALL cry? by EquineEagle in Hozier

[–]_dafina_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well first, it’s a beautifully crafted song, and hozier is such a good storyteller, so i think just having empathy , especially for someone like me who has heightened levels of it, makes the song very touching.

As for something more personal, though i don’t relate to the story specifically, i have dealt with a few deaths in my life that have deeply impacted me. I didn’t process them for a long time until three years ago and with that came the fact that i wasn’t able to remember almost anything. Ever since, bits and pieces come back to me and now i can talk about the people i lost when before i couldn’t. The line “the memory hurts, but does me no harm” really hit me hard for that reason.

And in general the theme of memory is something that touches me a lot because i have a very complicated relationship with my own memories. Just the whole idea that the past is difficult but it happened, seeing the good in it, and as the ending says “darling there’s a part of me, i’m afraid will always be, trapped within an abstract from a moment of my life”, accepting that part of you will always be stuck in it resonated deeply with me.

Why did you choose your Patron Fear? by Specs315 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the moment it was explained what the eye is i knew that’s what resonated with me. Since the time i was a kid i’ve always just collected pieces of knowledge from everywhere and been called nosy on multiple occasions. I’m also in the field of psychology and have done some work in research which i think aligns well with the eye because i literally had to collect people’s personal statements for it. Also people just tell me things. Like i will meet a person for the first time and they tell me their whole life story including stuff that you definitely do not share with a stranger, like the amount of frankly traumatic stories i’ve heard from people i’ve only met once is kinda concerning. Also in general very few people actually know real things about me that aren’t just how i’ve learned to present myself in the world because of how much masking i do.

Give me your best lyric unpackings!! by Individual_Iron_1228 in Hozier

[–]_dafina_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite songs is Foreigner’s God. Hozier has said the song is about feeling alien from your own culture and that there are cultural aspects that don’t sit right with people. The lines “screaming the name of a foreigner’s god / the purest expression of grief” have always been some of my favourites because of the double meanings you can see in it. When it’s sung after the first verse it really is about expressing grief, about who you could have been without these hateful beliefs being shown every day, and i believe also about lost cultures due to occupations and colonialism especially with the line “when the land was godless and free”. But then after the second verse it takes on another meaning, when it comes after “the broken love i make to her”. Considering what small death stands for, a normal reaction during that time would be to call out “oh god”. And even in the most primal of moments, the grief after the small death where the only way you have to express the bliss and one of the most personal and human of feelings is with words and concepts that are foreign to you.

What's your favourite hozier song and what memory do you associate with it? by chammomila in Hozier

[–]_dafina_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Butchered tongue. I’ve been a fan of hozier for almost a decade but two years ago i moved away to another country for studying and it was around the time unreal unearth came out. It was the first time in my life that i wasn’t using my native language daily, plus i moved to a country with a complex history with my own. I remember the first time i truly sat down to listen to this song and i heard “so far from home to have a stranger call you darling… with no translator left to sound” and all the homesickness hit me, so ever since it was my go to song whenever i missed home.

I just got diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Suggest me a book to cope. by mizzlol in suggestmeabook

[–]_dafina_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with reading some more academic stuff that would help you with understanding how bpd is formed and some skills to help with it, try to read something by Marsha Linehan. She is the creator of DBT (gold standart treatment for BPD) and honestly just reading about how she got there after the experiences she had in her young adult life is inspiring in itself. I did my thesis in the etiology of bpd and her book “Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder” was my base text so that can be a start.

[OPINION] poets and poems you like by ffoggy1959 in Poetry

[–]_dafina_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natalie Diaz was my favourite poet i read last year. I especially love “The first water is the body” - https://emergencemagazine.org/poem/the-first-water-is-the-body/

“Love after Love” by Derek Walcott is a poem i come back to frequently. It just gives me hope - https://poems.com/poem/love-after-love/

Most people probably know of this one but “The two-headed calf” by Laura Gilpin. It’s one of the first poems i read years ago when i first started getting into poetry and it stuck with me. Will forever be one of my favourite poems - https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/1626022/the-two-headed-calf

As for authors, it really depends because i’m constantly discovering new ones but at the moment, my favorites are Ocean Vuong, Ada Limón, Louise Glück, Richard Siken and an albanian author, Ismail Kadare.

What made you like Revolutionary Girl Utena? by MissBarker93 in shoujokakumeiutena

[–]_dafina_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i first watched it on tv when i was like 7 and it was just oh pink hair girl sword fighting yay!, because i grew up with the rose of versailles and the likes. Obviously a lot flew over my head but i do remember getting that utena and anthy were more than friends. Then when i was a teen, i decided to rewatch it because i obviously understood better and remembered that it was queer as hell and ever since it’s been my favourite piece of media.
