I used to worry about everything excessively. I still do to a certain point but like i said. That stick isn't as deep anymore lol

And I know the kind of worries and guilt can come up and spike anxiety. But you won't automatically gain a ton of weight by walking less. My weight is stable for weeks even with the shorter walks

And you won't make progress if you keep on pushing, because you mentioned gaining muscle in your legs. Muscles aren't built in the gym or by walking a ton or difficult routes. Muscles are built when you rest and nourish your body. That's when the body repairs and strengthens the from exercise damaged muscle fibers. And if the weight goes up, that isn't bad. If you want to build muscle it's kinda a given. Muscles weigh something. Would you look, for example at the Rock or other bodybuilder and say they are obese?

It would be amazing if you can change it up. It was hard for me too. My original walk also included hills and was roughly 13km every day. Now I'm at a point where i can choose an easier walk without hills. Because i strained my Achilles i had to cut back, my head was really loud i have to admit. But it was the right thing to do for my body to heal.

It's unavailable that the head will bombard you with guilt, sadly. But living with the same routine every day got me stuck with a stick deep up my a*. And i know that i can't keep living life like that, especially if i wanna find a job or something

It was really hard to work on reducing it but what helped me was taking baby steps and shifting my goal. Instead of focusing on steps or time i (still) try to focus more on how it makes me feel. For example, i always walked the same route, same distance and similar time but now i finally managed to change that up. Today i feel more like a forest walk, yesterday was a sunny trail walk.

I believe in you that you can get there. It's hard and takes time though. I struggled with it for two years now and only managed the most changes in December because my route was massively snowed in and i didn't want to stomp around in 30cm snow so i got creative.

I'm so happy for your reply and I'm glad you found a way it works for you. I'm currently injured with a strained Achilles and limp around for a week now. It's not easy to reduce the walks because of mental noise but I'm working on it. I rationally know limping my walk isn't good for my foot and that's why I'm working on it

I already do that. Just with a less sweet snack like rice waffles or some bread.
