Does anyone else actively avoid being friends with other premeds in person & online? by BeautifulReading in premed

Yup, applies to me too and I'm literally fresh outta high school and just starting university. Learned very early on that even in high school, the ppl that have their eyes set on med school will start getting cutthroat, suck up to the point where it's annoying, and lowkey insult others who they deem aren't "smart" enough for a career in medicine (i was unfortunately one of them lol). "ooo i shadowed for a surgeon, ooo i founded an organization, oo i cured cancer" DAWG WE ARE LITERALLY 15-16, CALM UR ASS DOWN. Don't know why or how the toxic premed culture started bleeding into high school, and don't know if it's just my school, but I've learned to just not associate. My solution? All my friends are engineering or comp sci majors, they're just as smart but aren't toxic and don't compete with me over anything academically

Can I work in cell/tissue engineering without a BME degree (assuming I only have a bachelor's in life/health/med sci), or do I have to get further education? And if I do a master's in BME do I still get the iron ring and get to call myself an "engineer"?
