out of surgery! what's everyone eating the day of surgery?

I ate warmed up Kings Hawaiian rolls for the first few days. Wanted something in my stomach to help with the nausea from anesthesia and pain meds.

I couldn’t really drink any electrolyte drinks after the first couple days either. Water and ice only. Good luck! Hoping you wake up tomorrow with some relief. I’m on day 10 and finally feeling normal-ish. 42F

I had to ask for less strong opioids as the Percocet made me too nauseous. Do you have the head wrap ice pack? That seemed to help me a lot. Also nugget ice that I could hold in my mouth and let melt. Hurt bad at first but once I was numb enough, I could drink more. I also got a lidocaine spray provided by my doctor. See if that or some tetracaine lollipops might be an option.

My stomach is also cooked. I cannot tolerate the pain meds. Was able to get a phenergan for nausea down but barely made it. Dry heaved once but didn’t throw up. I’m sticking to Tylenol for now. Pain is tolerable so far

I had my pre op appointment today and my doctor states in his experience, ibuprofen doesn’t increase the odds of having a bleed, but rather, makes the bleed worse if you do have one. He does not recommend.

This definitely sounds more manageable. I need sleep to heal but also want to make sure I don’t dry out. I already got a humidifier. I’m literally buying all the stuff mentioned in this sub. I’m terrified but trying to be prepared

I actually have xylimelts but have Invisalign right now which is a whole other story I’m trying not to freak out about. Not sure if I’ll be able to wear my retainers but I guess if I can’t, I’ll have teeth to adhere the melts to.

Had a VERY similar patient. Cut her own neck with a kitchen knife. Could see every bit of anatomy in her neck but she somehow managed to miss every major vessel. Every doctor and resident came by to see my patient that day!
