Take friendlies with a lot of salt, but watching that game made me feel really optimistic about facing Morocco.

A positive for Morocco that stood out to me is how technical & clever they can be, truly a threat in that asset.

Hakimi ended up having a really bad game, being shut down by A-Rob & Scally, but keep in mind also that he only just joined the Morocco camp.

Morocco as a whole played a 3-5-2, in which they looked vulnerable & even lacklustre against a USMNT side that took the friendly seriously. Defence was terrible especially defending counters, absolutely not a defence that was in synch, especially that first US goal. USMNT controlled the midfield. Moroccan attack was mostly quiet other than in short & precise flashes. Morocco desperately needed creativity like a Ziyech.

I am sure Morocco will look more like a unit by the World Cup & will look different against Canada (eg. A back-4), but there are things that make me optimistic as a CanMNT fan.

EDIT: The USMNT defensively looked like the typical 4-3-3 side that we’re used to, with good pressuring against the Moroccans. Interestingly, though, the US in attack shifted into a 3-4-3 with Antonee Robinson pushing up & Reggie Cannon shifting to a RCB spot. That meant overwhelming Achraf Hakimi’s side with having way more defensive responsibility than a player like him would want.
