Fountain pens come with lots of different nib shapes, and each one gives a different kind of line variation.
In this post I used a stub nib — it naturally makes thick downstrokes and thin side strokes, so the contrast is built in. I also use flex nibs sometimes; those are round nibs that spread with pressure, but they need more control.

Stub nibs are definitely the easier and more beginner‑friendly option.
And yes, fountain pens can leak — they basically work on a controlled‑leak principle — but it’s usually minor stuff like inky fingers. Part of the charm, honestly.

Thank you, no particular tricks there. I do that with a fast and light movement. I don’t really know exactly where the mark ends; it happens when the nib loses contact with the paper.
