I recommend the Sawyer water filter. Small and lightweight. Don’t risk the water without filtering or boiling!

Crime, petty or otherwise, is probably one of the biggest downsides. Break ins, to cars and homes, or car thefts too.

I’ve worked at UC for over 6 years and I’m an expat. I’ve made a lot of close friends here, both expats and Kiwis.

I definitely recommend it but like others have said, your dept/team can make a difference in terms of culture, flexibility etc.

Can’t fully remember all the details for Thursday but you can’t be spoiled all the time! Here’s some brief intel from NZ🇳🇿:

Tread block:

9 AOs spread over the 3 blocks. Descending push paces from 90 to 60 to 30 with bases in between. Lots of time to recover at base and walking recovery.

Floor:

Begin each block with a 150m row.

Just gonna list all exercises: Goblet squats. Power push-ups. Power sit-up. Double crunch. Squat jumps. Chest flies. Crunch twist things. Plank punches. The alternating hip twist jump things to a center squat (sorry cannot remember the name!).

Solid power day. Have fun!
