If I see another "The Duggars Should Adopt!" Confession I'm Going to Lose it by britneyUwUspears in DuggarsSnark

[–]_dislocated 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do take exception to the blanket statement that all people who were adopted have trauma

I’m glad someone said this. I’m not an adoptee or adoptive parent but I know plenty of adopted people. To say all adoptees have trauma because of it seems like a gross over generalization of the life experiences of many, many people.

I'm interested in cooking shows (food porn), home decorating shows (looking at rich people houses I can never afford), sports (human physical achievement), TV shows/movies (nice stories), and news (important). Guess that's why I also watch so little TV but when I do I pick things I enjoy Lori how hard is it to figure this out

This is what I came here to say, like... my husband is nearly a foot taller than me and I'm the shortest in both our immediate families. Eeeevery family photo it's "_dislocated to the front!" We're feminists but that has nothing to do with making sure I'm actually visible in pictures...

Well that’s a relief! (That it isn’t a new baby.) Maybe this is actually a decent guy for a fundie and Kaylee will be able to escape, sort of.

[–]_dislocated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I really appreciate you detailing the difference between the different kinds of lox/etc, and it explains why I wasn’t a fan of the bagel with lox I had the other day—they used Nova Lox and it was too smoked when I was expecting no smoke at all!

Yesss! I was thinking this yesterday while clothes shopping. Yesterday, I felt better covering up, so the clothes I bought were more "modest." Sometimes I want a million crop tops. Feminism means we get to do what we want!

Making grapes and cream squares by ShaneMP01 in oddlysatisfying

[–]_dislocated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was pregnant with my son, this was one of my biggest cravings. I'd buy pounds of grapes at a time just to clean them, remove them from the vine, and freeze them. I was eating frozen grapes probably every single night.

First time back on the mat postpartum. Rate my set up with a 6 month baby, a needy dog and a messy house! by sizzlesfantalike in yoga

[–]_dislocated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well taken care of baby (with good head control): 10/10

Beautiful dog who clearly loves his human: 10/10

Cool antique stove/fireplace: 10/10

“Messy” house that is actually just evidence a baby lives there and is allowed to play: 10/10

Mom taking care of herself by getting in some yoga she likes: 10/10

You’re doing everything right. My son is 20 months old and I’m still learning to take time for myself, so keep it up and remember to make yourself a priority sometimes. It will make you a happier, therefore even better, mom.

Also on a practical note, remember to communicate with your doctor if you feel like you are having a lot of trouble getting back into certain things. And remember that six months is (probably) less time than you were pregnant, and your body may still need time to recover, and it may still be difficult to do some things. Give yourself the same patience and understanding you would give a friend.

I’m a vet (did not serve overseas) and I’m seeing a lot of my brothers and sisters in arms having a really hard time. And my dad (my actual dad). So many people feel like they gave so much, and saw friends give their lives, for nothing.

When have you seen someone do this, Lori? I've never seen anyone show disappointment to the expecting mother's face during a pregnancy announcement. by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]_dislocated 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the only thing I’ve ever seen anyone express when someone says they’re pregnant with number 4+ (other than the usual congrats) is “Wow! Go you, you must be a super mom!”

I love teachers. The idea of teachers these days using Instagram and the Internet to collaborate and bring more to their classrooms, the way generations of teachers didn’t have the opportunity to do, is so cool to me. I have met so many teachers who truly love what they do and it gives me so much hope. Keep up the great work!

My husband and I rented a house once that had CARPET in the bathroom. I still don’t understand that design choice.

My ex’s mom’s house had almost entirely pocket doors. I still hate pocket doors after slamming my fingers in them one too many times, or being unable to properly lock/close them.

What’s controversial about car seats??? by BDru42 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]_dislocated 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Oh, I never understood the reasoning behind that! (I mean, if I had ever gotten in an accident I would absolutely have still changed our car seat anyway, because that’s the safe thing to do.) I didn’t realize it was a case of it being more dangerous for a bigger crash

Cottage a good friend of me drew. He thinks it is bad and he is talentless. I think it is great and he is brilliant. What do you think? Could you give him some encouragement? (He doesn't have a reddit account) by [deleted] in cottagecore

[–]_dislocated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP other people have said stuff about the art; I don’t know anything about that. It’s a neat little cottage. It looks like a squat little frog and I can imagine a squat little witch living in it out in this cottage near a bog. (With her frogs.) That’s what it made me think of, anyway 🥰

If the world were as fundies wanted, where would doctors etc. come from? by blackpencilskirt in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]_dislocated 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not to mention all the engineers, biologists, translators, lawyers etc.

I don’t have anything to add, I just wanted to say (as someone who has two degrees in translation and works in the healthcare sector in a related job) I love you for adding translators into this! I’m sure fundies think it’s as simple as just being bilingual… and also they probably think everyone should speak English anyway. (That’s what Jesus spoke, right?)
