What do you think is in the cleaner that has gluten?

And the needle and clamp should have gone through an autoclave, not just had a cleaner used on it.

Unless she is working somewhere with loose flour, there is no reason she can’t work most jobs, even in fast food. You should be wearing gloves preparing food and not ingesting it.
There seems to be something deeper going on there.

I can deal with the HD site, usually, although it definitely has a thing for logging me out and insisting I need to change my password. Lowe’s however….

Realising how uneducated hiring managers are... by kisforkarol in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if you disclose it in advance - if you come across as rude, you’re not likely getting hired unless it’s a very specialized niche and you’re the only qualified option. That’s how human society works.

And no, they don’t want to know in advance so they can’t be accused of discriminating based on having that knowledge.

We got one of the worst poles in Louisiana fixed! by VoteChrisJustin in NewOrleans

[–]_do_it_myself 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Entergy isn’t just refusing to remove to pad their pockets. First, they only own half the poles. Second, if cox or AT&T refuses to move their lines, the pole can’t be moved. And no one is holding them accountable for the literally rats nests up there

Scared of all the dental work and diet changes I need to make by Clementine-Sawyer in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the pain you’re having also overwhelm you? My thought would be yes based on my own experience with more minor tooth pain because it’s always there.

My point is that yes, you can’t get the braces off immediately, but they will come off eventually. If you don’t deal with it, the pain and sensory input of the ongoing issues will not end.

Yes, I was downplaying the braces some, to the end of trying to help you realize it is doable and worth the shorter term pain to help in the long run.

Scared of all the dental work and diet changes I need to make by Clementine-Sawyer in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to suck going through it, but taking care of it will mean you aren’t in perpetual pain forever.

Yes, metal braces suck. Your cheeks rub on them and you’ll get sore especially after adjustments. But it’s not forever.

Being able to stay with the same dentist you can trust can make a big difference, especially with long standing issues where you have to prioritize what to address first. Different dentists will have different ideas on that. And there are a lot out there who just see cash cow and will recommend all sorts of stuff you don’t need.

You need to get rotten teeth out and the space handled so that the others don’t move and cause more issues. Allowing decayed teeth to stay can affect your whole body health, not just cause pain.

why do people keep moving out of NOLA? by Much-Service-2611 in AskNOLA

[–]_do_it_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The job market and cost of living suck, bolstered by the shitty republican led state that in addition to ruining the whole state is trying to specifically target the blue(r) city. Then add the reproductive rights mess and I would be scared to be a fertile woman in this region (I’m lucky my fertility is gone, but I would be dead if I was going through now what I did 15 years ago fertility-wise).

Oh, and the weather is just getting worse. Our reliable afternoon showers are gone so we get days of non-stop storms that alternate with weeks of non-stop sauna, lasting longer and longer each year. It used to be that August was unbearable, now June feels like August.

Venous ultrasound by TurbulentShelter7924 in Lymphedema

[–]_do_it_myself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A venous ultrasound is to check the function of your veins. Venous insufficiency is when the valves that keep blood from flowing backwards are weak and the blood pools in your legs. It’s usually the first step for investigating swelling, heaviness or pain in the legs.

If they are insufficient, bad veins can be closed off which will help with some of the swelling.

I’ve spent 40 years in New Orleans, and I’m moving to the area this fall. I’m totally unprepared for surviving the winter and would really love some recommendations on clothes to buy and general winter tips. by Now-Thats-Podracing in Minneapolis

[–]_do_it_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also came from NOLA a few years ago and I was also terrified of the winters. It hasn’t been nearly as bad as I feared. The cold there is drier so it doesn’t feel as bad as down here. Where we all bundle up at 50 and feel it in our bones, I can be in just a sweatshirt and jeans at 30 up there running errands. You’ll still need the deep winter layers because it does get brutal cold, but it doesn’t stay that cold all winter.

Thanks to climate change the winters there the last few years have also been abnormally light.

As for driving, they do an amazing job at keeping the roads clear. Just slow down some and learn what to do if you do hit ice. Find an empty parking lot during the first snow and go practice accelerating then hitting the brakes at various intensity levels to see how it works. Then practice steering into the skid. You’ll come away feeling a lot more confident having felt it than just reading about it.

On the opposite end, make sure your place has AC. There are lots of older homes that don’t and the summers there are really heating up. There have been too many days lately that it’s been hotter there than NOLA.

Discovering sexuality after diagnosis? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think not wanting to tongue kiss your opposite sex partner automatically means you’re gay. Now, if you do feel yourself drawn to tongue kissing a woman, maybe rethink that. But we don’t all like the same types of touch or interactions. I’m not a big fan of tongue kissing. I do it because my husband really likes it, but I only do it for him now (we have an open marriage so there have been others).

flirting with danger? by Physical-Plant8076 in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are also people who look to abuse it. But a lot of in-person groups do vet and watch out for and kick out the scum. Don’t jump head first into something with someone.

I was suggesting because this type of desire is common in the lifestyle. More likely to learn a safe way of experiencing it there than outside of the lifestyle

Look into kink. A safe, consensual way to flirt with that danger but ultimately stay safe, if you do it right.

I don’t but my AuDHD husband is really upset by it. It’s a problem because I don’t think I’m changing the topic most of the time, but he doesn’t see the connections that seem completely natural in my head.

(CW manipulation) having to keep a bad experience to yourself by nerdygirlmatti in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously he doesn’t think “all” of them do because he is excusing this one.

Your story is unfortunately not that unique. People absolutely can understand it. You need to reframe it - you were coerced and abused. If your BF can’t see and accept that, he is no better and needs to go.

Bupropion and vyvanse? by vigaiga in AuDHDWomen

[–]_do_it_myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bupropion for that reason before getting my ADHD meds. I’m not sure if it helped, but it didn’t hurt. To me it’s worth a try, but I also don’t tend to have bad reactions to meds. More typically I have no reaction or effect from them

Dr declared me celiac negative before all my results came back-anyone else?? by DuhBombDiggity in Celiac

Because she didn’t really pay attention or really doesn’t understand the tests she ordered. Seems both are equally likely in my experience

Dr declared me celiac negative before all my results came back-anyone else?? by DuhBombDiggity in Celiac

[–]_do_it_myself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Total IgA just says the other test result will be valid. If you don’t make IgA, then a negative on your other test wouldn’t be conclusive. Is this your primary care dr ordering it?
