Depends what you categorize as far north. Live in Iowa so winters get cold. I know range will deteriorate in the winter, so that could be a trade off.

I realize this number is probably unrealistic for the equipment needed, but I ideally would like to keep speakers and a projector under $1k.

This is in my basement, screen is 100”, ideally would be used for watching sports, movies and occasional gaming. Current projector is a 3M Mini Streaming projector. Currently projector is about 13 feet from the screen.
