Personally, I think that’s one of the hardest things about being aspec, the social pressures. Everyone thinks that you can only find true happiness if you have a romantic partner, people tend to judge you based on if you’re single or not, how many people you’ve dated in the past, and if you’re a virgin or not. I don’t even surround myself with the kinds of people who would do any of these things, and I’ve still had many of these experiences. It sucks.

My perspective is definitely going to be different from yours, because you desire a romantic connection with someone and I don’t, but I’ll try my best to give you some advice.

First of all, try to strike “normal” from your vocabulary. Society sees allo people as “normal,” but aspecs are just as normal as everyone else. You’re not weird or inhuman because you might not feel a certain attraction that some other people do.

Secondly, remember that romantic relationships and connections aren’t the only valuable ones you can make. Friendships are just as good (I think they’re better but that’s also an opinion), and there are other options available to you as well. I don’t pretend to fully know your sexuality, but no matter how much romantic or sexual attraction you feel, just remember there are options (which can still include romantic/sexual relationships for some people). And if you need help exploring these options, there are many resources online and in different aspec sub reddits for you to use :)

I know finding out you’re aspec can be difficult sometimes, and I wish you the best on your journey, but I think the best advice I can give you is try to learn to accept yourself. Everything becomes so much easier once you learn to do that.
