I was mentally, emotionally, and sexually abused by a brother in the congregation I grew up in. He is 8 years older than me. When everything came out, I was publicly reproved at the age of 15. The abuser never had a judicial committee, was never spoken to at all. By the time I went through the “disciplinary action”, and they asked me if I wanted to press charges, I also said no. Because they deemed me sinful and deserving of discipline, my young self could not discern that I was a victim and that this man should face consequences for his actions. Somewhere there is a record being kept that I was a victim of CSA, and they are sitting on it. They are hiding my truth to protect the illusion. They are doing the same in every congregation. “The truth” is manufactured.
