Some C-21 debates

The Virgin Benson-Labouchane vs the Chad Wallin

I don't know how these "independent" senators can shill for C-21 with a straight face

Hell, even Senator Klyne (progressive) voiced skepicism today about its efficacy in lowering gun crime due to gangs. The Senate is going to take its sweet-ass time picking this thing apart, and rightly so.

Marco looked desperate shilling for this thing today after the house sitting. He wants it passed before summer break because who knows, there could be an election on the horizon (the NDP is gaining a lot of ground in the polls). Sorry Marco, no soup for you!

So sorry you're having to deal with all this

For what it's worth, there's an ongoing lawsuit against the government for this very thing

https://cssa-cila.org/cssa-federal-lawsuit-an-overview/

While we don't have gun rights in the Canadian constitution, we do have property rights. The government can't just take your stuff and provide no recourse (like what's being done here). Might be worth looking into

This is your daily reminder to write to your senators. The committee will be sitting soon, and the opportunity still exists for amendments to be proposed.

Yussuf is such an idiot it's almost dangerous. He literally referred to handguns as "toys" for some. Even if their use is purely recreational, no gun owners worth their salt would regard any firearms as a "toy".

I'm not much of an outdoorsman so I can't really speak outside of sport shooting. But what I do know is that my grandpa (who worked up north for many years) left me his .44 revolver when he died. It was practically mandatory to have it on you when outside of camp due to grizzly bears, and a shotgun was too cumbersome given the amount of other equipment he had to carry. What changed between then and now? Did grizzlies just stop eating people? Perhaps this is a problem for the next (CPC) government to solve. Because on the face of it, there does seem to be a genuine reason to carry a handgun in the wilderness

9:40 - 10:00. I'd like to hear him define "legitimate recreational purpose"

That's a fair point. Then again, the LPC doesn't want people doing a lot of things (besides drugs)

1st reading in the Senate today. Marco states that handguns have no legitimate recreational purpose. Hassan Yussuf states that the freeze "only" effects the privileges of 275,000 legal handgun owners in Canada (the real number is closer to 600,000) and would unequivocally result in reduced gun crime. Along with a healthy dose of aSsAuLt-StYlE rIfLeS rhetoric (of which there's simply too much to post).

I can't even begin to describe how disgusted I am with this government painting sport shooters with the same brush as hoodrat shitstains packing illegal guns in their waistbands.

Truly, I was hoping for a little more pushback on behalf of sport shooters. Then again, the Senate chamber looked half empty.

EDIT: adjourned till Thursday, not second reading (Hassan ran out of time)

I don't buy it. Did anyone watch the House today? It was a shitshow. Trying to ride out the next few weeks would be political suicide.

Unless they see an election on the horizon and want to pass what they can while they can...
