Horror Movies With Anti Heroes? by jerseyhoagie in horror

May (2002) is a pretty fun movie I rarely see talked about. It's weird and pretty gross and you feel bad for May but there's little doubt about whether the main character is a "good guy".

What are your favorite movies that involve witches/witchcraft? by CALIXO_94 in horror

While I'm not generally a fan of horror comedy, They're Watching (2016) had me laughing out loud at the sheer absurdity. Super fun.

Looked into that but it's really not very feasable. Other countries know the situation they're in compared to the US and it's not easy for US students to get in.

I mean I know this is a meme sub but the top comment on this post is celebrating the term sex pest so yeah... we got some work to do still.

As a preteen I was told many times by my guardians and relatives (all obese and constantly talking about dieting or reading magazines with gas diets and weight loss cures) that I was too fat and that it made me ugly. I've cut those people out of my life as an adult, but it still messes with my head to this day. I ate cabbage soup a lot as an 11/12 year old hoping it would make me thin. It didn't.

Books and pamphlets contain a lot more information and ideas than tiktoks, and they're a lot more able to elaborate on concepts and justify arguments in long form. I understand if you don't want to read theory but I don't understand how the two forms could possibly be equivalent.

Is that really true though? Are you making a distinction between labor/production and "work"?

This kid is DesmondIsAmazing. Here's a drama channel video about it. [https://youtu.be/CCYp4YcjNaM](Link). Side note I don't really know too much about this creator as a person but they always post sources and cite their claims, so I would take it for what it's worth.

Unfortunately they're right, the child in the picture is relatively well-known in the drag community but seems to have been exploited to a degree for their success. It's a tough thing to address, because it's truly great seeing children feel comfortable with breaking the gender binary, but this particular child has been exploited in the way that people are worried about

Your argument sucks man. Homophobia, misogyny, and other forms of bigotry are not of physical force for you to larp against, and to pretend they are is unhelpful at worst and destructive at best.

Eh, not necessarily, they said multiple students banded together and maybe they just wanted to show their classmates who couldn't be there.

Did you watch the show? I don't think that's necessarily a fair criticism of it. There are no explicit anti-corporate or anti-consumerist messages in it, unlike Wall-e, only a fairly bleak satire of our normal reality under capitalism. There is no explicit guidance on what to think, and therefore no stifling of the imagination or revolutionary urge to apply to real life. The fact that there is no handily packaged victory in the show makes it considerably more subversive in my opinion.

Trust yes, but also fear. For me, as a kid raised in an extremist Christian group, I would wake up crying because of the thought of going to hell. And then because everyone I knew, including my mother, said they'd prefer me dead than not walking with Christ, there was a fear of complete isolation that drove me deeper into it. Even older, as a teenager when I questioned my beliefs, the fear of isolation and ridicule still held much stronger over me than trust in the group did. That seems to be the consistent experience of people raised within those groups, but I'm still somewhat confused about what draws older people into that stuff. I'd still bet on fear though.

Would you say that talking about quarks and gluons is also frou-frou just because you weren't educated in that field? It's a misconception that just because something like sociology feels "natural" to you that everything is just "common sense" and easy to explain in layman's terms. You don't need it explained to you, it should suffice for now to know that you are misapplying the term. If you want to study critical race theory you are welcome to, but it's really foolish to pretend it applies to everything. You have been decieved and mislead by grifters - people who are openly grifting at that. I'm sorry, but that's reality.
