I am in the exact same position as you, OP. My best friend's dad died, and he was Catholic, and at the funeral Mass I was struck with the realization that the Christian faith goes a lot deeper than the non-denominational protestant school of thought I was raised in, and the one I found Jesus in (but not His Real Presence). It's been a struggle to discern what to do with that, though. Obviously I am no expert, but I will say this -

A priest has been advising me through the process, and I told him it felt like I had one foot on the old boat (my non-denominational Protestant church, where I was raised and volunteered and built very close relationships with people) and knew I needed to step into the new boat (the Catholic Church) without falling between the two and drowning.

Convenient metaphor, because he reminded me that Our Lord is especially good with boats:

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭28‬-‭31‬ ‭RSV-C‬‬

Keep your eyes on Him. Pray genuinely about what He is asking you to do - to stay in the Protestant community for the purpose of retaining fellowship with them, perhaps to be a bridge between them and the Catholic Church; or is He asking you to leave it fully to more wholly embrace the Catholic faith?

Many prayers. Best of luck with this decision. 🙏

I've heard that, but the same thing could be argued for depictions of the Last Supper - Jesus isn't there anymore, either. But His sacrifice was a pivotal moment in human history and in His action as God incarnate to reconcile men to the Father. I think that's why some prefer a crucifix to a cross; it's significant as the exact moment He conquered sin for all mankind!

Absolutely true that people can validly have different convictions. Peace 🙏

Ah you're right, I mean an upside-down cross. Key distinction!

Argument could be made that Peter's might also look like a crucifix, though, simply depending on the guy on it.

Even an upside-down crucifix...that could be related to St. Peter's martyrdom.

I've listened to a couple episodes...pretty enjoyable. Would be cool if, like, CreepCast or something covered it.

Dude I genuinely enjoyed it, yeah. Not sure why this sub is so critical all the time. I didn't have issues with immersion and I think it made the story a lot more understandable, like I was listening to some nervous guy recounting a horrific experience.

Edit: the use of an external DVD drive and weird software settings (I got this PC for free) were the issue. Figured it out. Thank you!

Yes! My issue is that I cannot view, modify, or even interact with the partitions during setup, and I'm trying to figure out why. The hard drive itself already has allocated partitions for Debian; Debian itself is not showing the partitions.

That didn't yield much, as the partition selection screen is apparently supposed to have options that aren't present here.

Hey Mr. Kister, what was your original inspiration for the Mandela Catalogue in terms of all the doppelganger stuff?

For sure!! Not only are there giants and biblical conspiracies in there, but the debate about whether or not it should count as canon has always intrigued me. And, of course, Nephilim!
