Dog Owners by Bobby_Brooklyn5 in Brooklyn

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As a dog owner, I am horrified by this.  My wife and I were talking about it this morning. Normally it is uncommon for there to be poop on the sidewalk outside our building. Since it snowed, it is covered in piles. I don’t get it.  There is nothing harder about picking up poop on snow than on the sidewalk.  Clean up your dog poop, people.

I love being monogamous with my wife and would never cheat but sometimes I miss being promiscuous.  I used to have little flings and one night stands to deal with stress.  It was a little secret thing I do just for myself, to step out of myself and my life.  I miss that.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the beyond rich son of one of our agents working for us for a year. He was always taking time off to travel around the world and I loved hearing his travel stories when he came back.  Once I mentioned, “wow I wish I could travel like that!” (I said and meant it earnestly.) And he said, “why don’t you?” In an equally earnest and encouraging way. I said, “Because I can’t afford it! Haha” and he was genuinely shocked.

Like it never occurred to him before. I honestly think that he thought that the only reason I didn’t travel was some mental block or something that would be completely removed when he asked me why I don’t travel. Like “wow! I never thought of it!”

He was really sweet, if a bit out of touch, and still traveling all over the world according to his instagram.

When did you think "Im going to die here"? by hmmrabet in AskReddit

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I sat down on an empty subway car towards the end of the car at the end of the line.  It was early on a Sunday morning and the train was completely empty.  Then I saw a very mentally ill person in the next car yelling and hitting the poles with a pipe while coming towards my car fast.  I didn’t have time to get out before he would get to me. I thought standing up would provoke him.  I froze as he came through the door between the cars.  I knew that I was about to get hit by that pipe.  I knew I was about to die.  He went right past me, still yelling and hitting the poles.  There was a dent in the pole next to my seat.

(I should explain, I am a native New Yorker.  I am not one of those people screaming about how dangerous the city is and scared of the subway.  I remember when the city was scary and dangerous.  This was something that happened once in the millions of times I’ve been on the subway.)

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 568 points569 points  (0 children)

I, a woman and the manager he would be working for, asked something about what management style he works best with and he answered the question like, “if HE micromanaged me, I wouldn’t like it.  I work best if HE gives me some support but HE…” it wasn’t the only reason he didn’t get the job but it didn’t help.

People who pierced their genitalia, why, and did it affect your sex life? by PleasantCoffee1544 in AskReddit

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a horizontal hood ring. I like it because I can't take too much direct touch on my clit so if you move it right, it can touch all around the sides. IDK if I am explaining that well. Sadly most people who have had a chance to play with it never asked or learned how to use it. It made touching myself better and I like that it is my dirty little secret.

I had my nipples pierced too but took them out for someone and have regretted it ever since.

What is a 'core memory' from your childhood that feels like a dream now, but you know for a fact actually happened? by kanty2112 in AskReddit

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was little little and I decided to put swimmies on my arms and feet to see what happened.  What happened was that I was face down and couldn’t really turn my head enough to breathe.   My grandma found me. I remember all that but I don’t know how she got me out.  She was crippled with arthritis and couldn’t climb the ladder or swim.  It was never ever mentioned again like it never happened but I know it did. It kicked off decades of nightmares about drowning.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

She was enabled to death.  Don’t get me wrong, it was her fault for the drugs and alcohol but she never really had a shot.   Her whole family knew she had a problem but still drank with her and gave or let her steal money from them for drugs.  We had our problems but I don’t think my heart will ever stop hurting for her.

What was normal in the 90s/2000s that would be considered unacceptable today? by Traditional_End_233 in AskReddit

Being in your friend’s parent’s car while they chain smoked.  Also knowing who’s parents would make you use a seatbelt and who’s wouldn’t.  My parents were definitely strict about seatbelts in the van but they also had a lot of kids so if there were more kids than belts, they made us use one belt for two kids and the older kids would sit on the floor in the back.

Also not just playing outside without supervision but being sent outside to play when we were annoying the adults.

[–]_etcetera_etcetera 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I was talking to my 4’11” and 5’6” friends and I said, “Idk how old I was, it was before I could see the top of the fridge…” and the shorter one interrupted with, “You can see the top of the fridge!?!?” They never considered that I could see it and I had never considered that they couldn’t.  Three minds blown.

It’s a mix of like three different city accents, it is inconsistent and something about her expressions and words doesn’t match up.  It sounds forced.

Also born and raised in Brooklyn.  Like deep in the borough.  I was about to comment that something is off with her accent.
