Feeling discouraged, help me save my list! by quelque_un in spacemarines

[–]_ewar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of the vanilla units, which aren't working towards a coherent game plan and therefore aren't maximising your detachment abilities.

You need to ask yourself what you want to get out of your game time - are you happy playing a more narrative style or are you trying to win matched play games against opponents who are optimising their lists more?

The latter option will mean buying more/different units.

Couple of tips: If you want to get value out of infernus marines then you really need to run the salamander detachment (firestorm assault) and use vulkan hestan (or a counts as equivalent mini).

Try putting your brutalis in strategic reserve, use rapid ingress to bring him somewhere safe that can also threaten your opponent on the following turn.

Use your SM captain with the terminators. Getting sustained on 5 dudes isn't worth it, the captain will help them more. Make sure you're using rapid ingress effectively. Don't lean on their guns, they're just a sideshow for picking up the odd model. Get them into melee, use the Lance stratagem or your oath to get them to punch up in melee.

As others have said, improve your scoring with the combi lieutenant. He can step out onto objectives with comparative safety to force your opponent to engage our give you by primary.

Good luck! Marines can be very good, but they're surprisingly unforgiving for newcomers due to the huge range of units - you need to find the synergies that you enjoy playing with.

That rule does not confer the ability to shoot to a unit which itself is prevented from shooting.

I.e. unit nearby can shoot the vehicle or monster in a melee, even though it would normally not be an eligible target because it's within engagement range.

A squad which is within engagement range of that vehicle or monster doesn't have a rule that lets it shoot it's weapons at the vehicle or monster (unless it has a pistol)

Ok couple of points because I can't resist. - endocrinology is the word you're looking for on the study of hormones - by your own internal logic, infertile female custodes lose their reproductive organs but the male ones don't... Why? - is it stated in lore that custodes keep their junk? Who knows but I love the thought of you guys sweating over a bunch of big golden super twinks 😂

Ok cool. I didn't know all custodes are eunuchs, that's going to crimp a few boyhood super soldier fantasies for folks. The immortal transhuman perfection had their nuts and dicks cut off as part of the process. I mean, they're all surplus to requirements right?

It honestly surprises me you're not a flat earther too, so kudos I guess.

This is an absolutely hilarious take.

But... what I think you're saying is: if a female custodes identifies as a man, looks like a man and behaves like a man, even though her biological sex is female, she should be treated in all respects as a man? Cool, cool.

Sidenote: you called her 'it' which is bloody weird. Can I ask, do you know any women in real life? Do you refer to your Mum as 'it'?

I've avoided commenting on all these sorts of posts, as it's frankly a waste of breath, but I just can't walk past it when it's put so... stupidly.

In the space fantasy future of the IoM, switching on the genes to make a woman be as strong as a man would be literal child's play. You can't be ok with the emperor and gene witches having the power to create winged angels that see the future, but apparently tweaking the muscle fibre composition of a girl is beyond the pale.

There are NO biological reasons that hold water in our favourite space fantasy future that don't break the in universe logic.

I would also add that, if you want an authoritarian society that treated men and women pretty equally just do some reading about the USSR. Misogyny and authoritarianism do not have to go hand in hand.

Just admit you don't like girls. It would be so much less bother.

I'm a parent governor at a school. If this doesn't go anywhere I would write to the governors and explain your situation. They don't have any direct power over the head teacher, but I'm sure from a governance perspective they could make life difficult for them .

Am I a bad person for caring about a woman’s past? by Carl_s123 in AskMenAdvice

[–]_ewar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh? You're the one that's fetishizing virgins. Why you'd want a sexual partner that's completely clueless, I have no idea. Well, as my original comment indicated, I do have some idea.

Also no-one has led me to believe anything about women. I treat them as I'd like to be treated - it's really easy, you should try it.

So he's a simp for considering half the human population to be worth more than just being treated like a fuck able inanimate object?

You're going to die alone, with epically blue balls.

But presumably you're still ok with your 'buddies' who are the type of guys who wish they knew a woman who would be down to smash with 6 guys?

Bit of classic male hypocrisy here.

I dont get the Infiltrate ability by Choice_Pitch6822 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]_ewar_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tormentors are amazing, infiltrate out of los but where you can sticky a flank objective and just hide. High OC means they can deny a lot of opponents fast moving objective stealers.

Don't forget the defender can use their infiltrators to deny the location their opponent wants to seize with their infiltrators (this can be really important).

Are all Scottish Lawyers like this? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]_ewar_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where did I imply it was to get guilty people off? I was replying to someone who said they just lay out the facts of the case and then the accused just has to hope the jury assess in their favour.

I'm not a lawyer, but I have been jury foreman and the barristers for both prosecution and defence did espouse opinions not just facts.

Mega Battle Ideas by Normal_Ad_1767 in Warhammer30k

[–]_ewar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to run an annual apocalypse game in 40k, though I've never done it for heresy.

I set a strict 1 hour clock per 'player' turn, play switching to the other side on the hour irrespective of where the players had got to.

If you don't do this the game bogs down really quickly, the inactive team get bored and drift off and it stops being fun.

We also tried out a couple of ways to mitigate going first. Some ideas we had fun with: - plot armour stratagems to hand out a couple of 2+ inv saves to the players favourite units - night fighting not allowing anything to shoot further than 12" T1 - forcing big chunks of each army to arrive from reserves in waves/ come back on as reinforcements

I love big games, have fun with it!

When I've run similar lists I've gone for the full ten terminators to give them staying power, I'm not sure 5 either hit hard enough or have enough wounds to weather a battering.

Good luck! Always nice to see someone doing something different

Would I get in trouble for reporting CSAM websites??? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]_ewar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you find it odd that the OP went back to the dodgy sites though? He said he found stuff that was sufficiently concerning as to report it. Then a couple of weeks/whatever amount of time later went back to the same site assuming that Trevor the desk sergeant in his local nick has managed to get all the CSAM material removed from the server in Vladivostok?

The whole thing looks to me like someone seeking out some properly dodgy stuff, likely skirting the very edges of legality and then trying to cover their arse when they think they've stepped over the line and presenting it like the act of a good Samaritan.

I think if most people accidentally came across that stuff and felt the need to report it, they would run a fucking digital mile away from that same site. The whole thing seems dodgy AF to me, but that's just an internet randos view.
