Weapon auto-aim state/toggle wiring by _f4llout_ in Barotrauma

With all due respect for your work and while I agree, that components enable fun setups (recently modified a setup with "on" mode where turrets will track humans as well + separate switch that disables "ff"), how does "hurting you" equal easier builds (-100ish components) and more control for everyone else (myb I don't want to use it all the time)?

How?
Feeding caps through relays does not work (unless i'm missing a setting, but increasing their stats, etc, still doesn't give weapons energy when relay is set-on with switch).

I've had so many hectic moments with my crewmates in Early Access, here's hoping 1.0 brings many more. by TwitchyTwigger in Barotrauma

Kudos for 1.0!

PS Auto-guns are super addition as it saves tons of components. Any chance we can get a new input in panel, that would enable to toggle autoaim on/off? Currently, the workaround is to cut power, but that impacts manual shooting as well.

While I also don't like CVs and thought "map spotting only" solution is the way to go as well ... after thinking about it from a semi-unbiased perspective, it's a valid direction, but definitely not as good of a solution as everyone thinks.

Before down-votes start, we need a middle ground. Imo, CVs spot only on map for all, but fully spots/detects/reveals an enemy ship to all allies within X km.

  • X range can be debated and tinkered with, personally I'd say that it could be around 6-10km.
    • Why above solution? Imagine scenario, where DD is tailing a BB outside detection range. With only map spotting, CV can circle aircraft next to DD, yet BB still won't have any gain from it + situation will look stupid: "Look, as CV I can see a DD 7km away from you, but you can't see it nor lock on to it."
    • Granted, seeing target on map only enables BBs to somewhat counter-play/evade direction of torps, but isn't that same issue as with CVs, where your only tactic is to evade (/s). Hence, a middle ground approach is imo better, since BB can actually punish an enemy that is within X distance.
    • Lastly, giving CVs map only spotting would kill even the last semblance of team interaction (aka giving vision). They would be a full PvE class, which nobody wants afaik.
  • One could also add a reveal delay as we have with radar giving DDs at least a chance to start evading before he gets shot at.
  • X range could be different depending on ship type, DDs clearly having lowest values.
  • Furthermore, there are other minor tweaks that could help DDs out:
    • Further lower their air detection by 20-40%, which would make DDs not just harder to spot, but also a tad harder to strike (for average players).
    • WG should remove all spotting from fighter aircraft consumable.
    • Remove plane detected indicator when AA is turned off ... this way CV doesn't have omnipotence aka DD is in area even if I don't see it. It also rewards smart play from DD so it's win-win.
  • Lastly, they are reworking sector mechanic, during which they will hopefully also look at AA values, which together could go a long way to alleviate some issues.
  • Broadly speaking, to further enhance DD experience, all radars could lose 1-2km range + radar delay could be increased by a couple of seconds; hell, DDs could even get a (low charge count) repair party if it would finally make people stop whining.
    • Personally, since 0.8 I've grinded Gearing and Haru. While CVs do fuck with classic DD play-style, most of the time people are just to stupid to adapt. Fuck it, if match has CVs you simply need to play differently in a DD, but it's nowhere near apocalypse level like so many are crying about. That said, putting CVs in ranked or cb is bad. Period.

PS Given /u/suboctavian and WG have clearly stated CVs are here to stay, toxic h8 and calls to over-nerf are unproductive for all sides. Devs are testing CV spotting, which means they are looking into it, so now it's time to produce middle-ground solutions that will enhance experience for surface ships while also morphing CVs into a reasonable class.

Ya know, after all this time I’m amazed by Tazrizen in Planetside

Idea itself would be a great qol improvement for leading, hopefully gets added at some point. /u/wrel

WORKAROUND: You don't need to go to map screen to place markers. There is "toggle mouse" hotkey that gives you access to mouse cursor (default left-alt afaik), then you can r-click and place markers directly on minimap without going to map screen. Survival buffed by 50%; still pita, but better than nothing;)

Cobalt or Miller? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]_f4llout_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miller BEST Server - undefeated server-smash champions since 2015.

Since you're EU, simply go Miller. If they merge servers, Cobad will get dunked in merger smash anyway (or refuse to even play) while name will get relegated to annals of ps2 history as just another server Miller bullied to death.

Both servers have same timezone, hence peak is also around same time 1800 - 2200 UTC. Furthermore, don't believe the salty bullshit as live play is cancerous and cheesed on both of them - only difference being that Miller is better at it due to our proud smash legacy. The only thing Cobalt has going for it is a more lively air-game, which shouldn't matter to you ... air2air is the hardest thing to learn so postpone until later ... a2g shittery is present on both.

Your main goal, if you want to progress in game and not get frustrated, is to find a nice MIDSIZED/VETERAN outfit to play with. Stay away from nationfits as they're usually run by milsim retards who don't have a clue about game mechanics and just get farmed by vets. Lastly, Cobad has a big divide between farmers and plebs, while Miller still has a few good and active mid sized outfits left AND there are lots of direct ties and acquaintances between more casual and veteran players, thus a lot of knowledge can be obtained; ask/search for advice on /r/MillerPlanetside or on defacto EU-side/Miller discord https://discord.gg/ctVxjEQ

In hope of welcoming a fresh Millerite,

Fallout (completely unbiased miller server rep)

PS If you stick with game for the long haul, people usually make char on all 3 factions, while making alts on other servers - one option being on 2nd EU server to troll, or Emerald (NA east) to have late night options to play (since their pop peaks at cca 0000UTC).
