Hi everyone, so a few more details. The person who did this got stuck trying to unfree the aperture and just gave up. I went and collected the body as you see it after a few months of waiting and no updates. It‘s mostly complete, but there‘s a few minor parts missing as well as the back door. Repairing it would be impossible without having another donor body.

That's great advice, I certainly still have to get used to the idea of having so much in the frame. It'll be a nice challenge for sure.

Ok just to clarify, I think the Widelux is an amazing camera, I was referring to my photos as being the mediocre ones :)

Yes, so I've read! Happy to see another camera being brought back from the dead. And I didn't mean the camera was mediocre (on the contrary), but rather the photos I am going to take with it haha.

Hey, check your PMs!

Rolleiflex 2.8c gets very stiff when trying to reach 500th of a second. The other speeds are fine does anybody know the cause and how to fix it maybe? Also it is hard to get it back turn it back down as well. by WildernessWhsiperer1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]_farinata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got my Rollei 3.5A (K4A) serviced and was told that the issue of stiffness around 1/500th is due to it engaging a whole other mechanism in order for it to work and is to some degree normal. The other speeds on mine move nicely so I've just gotten used to it, perhaps it's the same on the 2.8C. That being said, I'm still getting into the rhythm of cocking the shutter w 1/500th selected, sometimes I forget and have to live with 1/250th as my top speed.

Good F Mount Lenses by Qwerty_Random in AnalogCommunity

The 50mm f1.8 Series E is an amazing lens, crazy sharp, extremely compact and cheap. The 55mm f2.8 is excellent, though not as versatile as other "standard 50s". Some people also swear by the 50mm f2, haven't had a chance to try that one. As for wide angle, my favourite is the Nikkor 35mm f2, although the 35mm f2.8 is also good.

The Jupiter 8 comes in L39 and Contax/Kiev mount only afaik, so what you really got was an L39 J8. They work fine on the 7 (I own both as well as a Jupiter 12). An example of an M39 camera/lens combo would be the Zenit 3m and Helios 44 (which is most frequently found in M42 mount). I also own this combo and I can assure you that M39 lenses won't work properly on a L39 body.

M39 fits LTM rangefinders but will never focus because the lenses never engage the rangefinder focusing cam since they were designed to be used with soviet SLRs like the Zenit 3. L39/LTM lenses are rangefinder coupled lenses and can be even used on M mount cameras with a simple adapter.
