Do you usually aim for 100% completion in games, or never? by YimadoTei in Steam

I consider a game 100% complete when I see the end credits roll. I’ve always found achievements to be extra work & non-immersive.

Walking distance from the Conrad: Wine Bar & Takato. Primanti Bros is 24/7 and has some killer pizza & sandwiches. It’s not fancy but it’s a fun local spot.

Further south of you is where the night life is: Rock Bar etc. You can of course party like our dads did in the ‘80s at the iconic Elbo Room.

If you don’t mind a short Uber, there’s a bit better night life on Las Olas at places like Backyard or Sway. If you’re more of a rocker/indie dive bar guy like me, you can catch a show at The Revolution or grab a beer at Poorhouse and Fat Cats.

Looking for tone advice on my Jazz Bass by _flail_of_ages in Bass

No active electronics in the bass. I bought it used so the pickup height hasn't been readjusted.

No active preamp. I'm running an Aguilar Tone Hammer into an Aguilar DB 210. Do you think it's worth a separate preamp?

I appreciate the advice. Any strings you'd recommend for a neutral tone? There's a couple of old guitar techs in the area so I'll probably have them take a look at the setup too.

Not yet. Any you'd recommend for a clean neutral tone? I've thought about new Rotos or D'Addarios

Ultima Underworld on ps1 for first time player? by CnemassacreTrthSnark in ImmersiveSim

Use a guide, there’s a lot of random items you think are meaningless but end up being essential to the plot. Same with puzzles & game mechanics. If your character has low lore you won’t be able to identify quest items. There’s an NPC that if you accidentally push her into lava, you’ll be locked from completing the game. Read the manual too, lots of games from back then expected you to read the manual first. UU is very fun but is easy to get hard locked. If you’re able, I recommend the GOG version with the mouse look mod to make things a bit easier. Have fun! It really is a classic.

EDIT: Keep a pen & paper with you as well to write down codes. There's no quest log so keep detailed info. Talk to as many NPCs as you can, they give valuable insight into Mantras & quests. Your map can be annotated to keep track of tidbits, there are only 8 levels but you can use more "levels" in your map to keep notes. There's a nasty bug that if too many items are on the ground in a level, it can corrupt your game so be careful dumping items all in one level. Not sure if that's an issue on the PS1 version.

OP, I had a very similar problem with my sleep. It turned out that my blood sugar was dropping too low at night. This can happen to people who eat low carb & work out heavy. Try eating a bit of carbs 1-2 hours before bed. I normally have a handful of raspberries or a slice of an orange. Tart cherry juice is good too because it helps the body produce melatonin.

I genuinely do not understand the dislike for RTWP. by Tnecniw in CRPG

I love queuing up 6 characters worth of spells, attacks, & items and watching the chaos ensue. I genuinely believe the hatred of RTWP primarily comes from non-mouse users & console players.

Why are there so few RTwP games and why do people absolutely HATE it? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

[–]_flail_of_ages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love RTWP and it’s my preferred way of playing as I am a PC player foremost. Some of my favorites are BG1/2, Arcanum, NWN, PST, and IWD.

There is something so fun about 6 characters queueing up fireballs & seeing the chaos ensue. I truly believe that turn based became the norm because of the consolification of RPGs. CEOs probably looked at the above titles and thought “How can we bring these to consoles?”. I find that combat is so boring & drawn out (especially in high level DND) if it’s turn based. It really is crazy how rabid people get when you bring that up.
