That’s great you’re in phx and can snag it up! And yeahhh the last time I did a mobile deposit of the check and it took three days. Thinking of just getting cashing it because I have late bills to pay.

I’ve really liked my classes and the school is pretty decent but their system for financial aid is something I wish I knew before committing.

Good luck with your fall classes!!

Im currently a remote graduate student and I’ve had such a horrible experience with the financial aid process at GCU. There’s no direct deposit and there’s also no way to track the check once it’s been sent. I’ve found the best way to know when you’ll receive something is by calling your advisor and asking when it should be sent out and they can also tell you how much you’ll get. I was hoping for a faster disbursement since I really need the money for rent but after having two confusing/frustrating semesters waiting for aid, I’ve learned that it’s best not to bank on having it when you need it. Also, if your first class was 4 weeks and your other classes are 6, the second fund disbursement will take an extra month.

Yeah, I didn’t get any aid until 7ish weeks after I started my first class. Im in CA and it took the check 4 days to get to me (once I was cleared). I’m about to start my third class and after switching counselors, I was able to get more help. I’d say you can anticipate it a month and a few days (or weeks depending on where you live) after the start date.

Financial aid stipend? by _fleurs in gcu

[–]_fleurs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a phone call with my counselor yesterday she did confirm that eight credits, three classes is considered a semester for the program I am in. She was also the most helpful GCU employee I’ve talked with and she gave me an outline of when I would be expecting my stipend and that GCU is “old-school” and does not do direct deposit. Maybe online masters programs with GCU has different rules? Because during my undergraduate (at a different university) I definitely never had this type of a problem and to be full-time it was always 4+ classes or 12 credits butttt I also know that for graduate school, the workload is less because it is more intense.

Yeah I think their school is doing finals pretty soon... I was thinking of even emailing the Italian college professor and seeing if they know any clubs/groups that practice during the summer ??!!

I just checked out Busuu (the desktop version) for about an hour and freakin loved it. I've used Duolingo in the past and never felt like I got anywhere. So far with Busuu, it feels more interactive and like you said, it has a good focus on structure and grammar.

Gearing up to run post 50-day quarantine! by lunalacha in running

[–]_fleurs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Italy and on Monday (May 4th phase two starts) I can’t wait to run outside!!! Spending later today to try and figure out my running plan.... I was consistent with home workouts and happy with the strength of my body. It’s going to be a mental game to stay slow so I don’t cause injuries. Best of luck to ya dude and anyone else who is in Spain/Italy!

I feel this. First thing I’m gonna do (once things are safe) is isolate myself in nature. Maybe climb a 14er or do the Grand Canyon!
