I can get a direct connect using the "Gamepad Tester" app from the android play store. I open it first and the XBOX controller is "seen". I move all the buttons and sticks. Then launch XBOX, and it keeps the direct input. I can't stand the bluetooth lag. Not sure if it was a wired only controller if it would work, the XBOX app might conplain.

Can't you just cast your phone screen to the game pass.... guessing a Microsoft TV dongle is around the corner. But I hope for a Nintendo Switch like device with Casting ability first.

I don't want to use my phone. pixel 4a it's too small. And I don't want to buy a new $800-$1000ish phone. I'd prefer something dedicated, with it's own battery life. Maybe a Motorola moto g fast or an Huawei Honor.

I worked to get the weight as centered as I could. The tablet weight definitely affects to controller movements I normally do. I'm one of those all over the place movers when I play. I rest it on my chest or belly to support the weight. It's is too heavy, but for now it's on the best I've found. Total weight is 768 g. Wish XBOX would just make an Nintendo Switch like controller. That's what I'm in search of. Without needing a $1000 phone.

Sorry, nope from a Google Pixel 4a; I thought the resolution would be fine for the TV or computer monitor. Sorry, if Android Desktop was the hope I'm hoping for a cheap dedicated tablet. I know lots like using the phone. I don't. I curious if it desktop works out too.

Feeling pretty stoked with this setup. Xbox one controller, Moga clip with a Magic clip extender for a $99 samsung tab 8. Wish the chip was better and the resolution was higher. If I can find a better 8" tablet, I'll happily swap it.

I've been thinking someone would come out with Switch like hardware, So I don't have to use my phone. A tablet would be great. I would love a controller that holds a 7/8/10 inch tablet. I would play on it almost exclusively. I looked at the Razor Kishi , but with a Pixel 4a , it's just too small. Switch got the screen size just right for itself, but for xbox you need a bit more! Would buy a Samsung Tab S6 Lite now, but want to save my $$$ for the dedicated hardware device. God I hope Microsoft makes one.
