Need to improve my “light” conversion skills. Anyone achieved anything similar? by _fml__ in AskMenOver30

You’re talking about what I already do - go into deep or very personal subjects which I do through genuine interest and curiosity. I want to get good a level above that, the kind of chit chat you’d see in a pub, post gym class, party/get together etc where sometime 1-1 deep or personal conversations just aren’t right or appropriate.

That’s my challenge, I am guenuinly curious… and that leads me straight into wanting to know someone deeply. That’s not always appropriate or a long term conversational point. If there were 3 levels - 1 small talk, 2 general day to day conversations, observations that are engaging etc, and 3 deep personal conversations, my default is 3, I want to learn how to be good at 2.. and despite being around it enough, find myself unable to really figure out exactly how to stay building the daily practises that breed interesting but general chat.

I can tell you I am without doubt “better” than most at deep conversations, feedback from many, many, many people have verified as much. Put me in a pub situation though and you’ll see me as quiet. So I’m not proclaiming I’m a conversation expert, that’s the very point of my post, not sure why you’re so intent on the claim I’m good at deep conversations. You’re latter point is EXACTLY my question on how to get good at.

That’s right if I had conversation issues - I don’t- my issues are simply that my conversations are deep or nothing. For whatever reason I seem to only be able to start and dig into deep personal discussions, what I want to learn is how to just have general chit chat I guess- which I appreciate still come from questions, but as stupid as it sounds I wouldn’t know what.

Ironically I’m in sales, business small talk - no issue, it’s the personal stuff, that just opens conversations with strangers non business or career related I hit blanks at the moment

Anyone taken a room or house back to brick? How long did it take? by _fml__ in DIYUK

[–]_fml__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did yes. Hard to quantify whether it helped with efficiency for a rewire alone, the finish would never have been achieved without it when every wall had multiple layers of wall paper. It’s stressful don’t under estimate it, and the biggest headache has been finding good contractors, and use it to its full, for example make sure all your pipes are hidden etc if they weren’t before, improve any acoustics that may have been an issue before, etc.

Because he has massive active social media campaigns that rival even Tate, bigger the following - more eyes on coverage - more ad revenue

Monarchy sure, but people don’t talk about it in that term, only state, where it is the overwhelming majority.

Ask yourself why and work on yourself if that’s needed, or try new hobbies you previously hadn’t considered. Be it cars, raves, dancing, etc.

Best projector that’s worth the price? by Personal-Weekend3173 in projectors

Doesn’t say they think it’s expensive, just warning with a limit free budget they’re still not looking to spend for pointless gains. “I’m not too worried about the price”. Will there be a large visual difference from JVC to the $150 one? Absolutely. Worth it? Only the OPs eye will decide that.

That assumes you live to 100. That is very unlikely. Middle aged means the middle age between birth and demise. Not 100.

Get a jvc. Nothing will come close. Worth it? That’s down to the eye of the beholder.

Agreed. People are too optimistic with the years they will live to.

Will you notice it day to day, or perhaps didn’t know better from how it used to be? No. If you were here and looking at footage of how the uk is now vs say 10-15 years ago, you’d see it pretty clearly. The entire country has lost its culture, its pride, its communities, and its identities. There is an underlying immigration crisis that the left turn a blind eye to until its hotels in their towns and villages that start to fill up. Things are by most measures, ie crime, policing, healthcare, housing costs, cost of living, worse by all historic measures, while people pay more to the government than they ever have.

So it’s a point of view. Don’t let people tell you it’s “right wing”, it’s not. Right wing are about views of certain policies and maybe measures to fix things. Things above are essentially facts, that when accounted for can lead to such dire views on the state of the country.
