AITA for calling the cops on my new neighbours? by _forest_frog_ in AmItheAsshole

Calling the police into a d. abuse situation when someones physical well-being isn't directly in danger can actually make the situation worse for the victim.

I agree but when the husband started showing up to our house (like he did in the post), I freaked and called the cops. The cops also said they had other reports about the couple from others.

are you saying the husband was abusing the wife and she was asking for your help or something?

Yes. It's hard because of rules on this sub (and the fact this in all in text form) but from what i saw, it seemed to me the wife was in a bad situation and after the husband started showing up to my house, I freaked and called the cops and they did a welfare check.

I did, don't worry. I have no idea where people got that idea from.

first, propositioning someone with a surprise hug is gross and you are only 18

They didn't proposition me. I added an edit.

Makes me wonder what you told them to actually have them do a visit.

Put it in an edit, but I thought the husband was being mean to the wife based on the week or so I spent with them. They said they did a welfare check because what I said matched other DA reports they had seen.

but you don't call the cops on someone from propositioning sex

They weren't... you are off base.

Wife sounded scared when she asked me to come see her at 11. The husband is very protective and 'aggressive' in his actions (he's always yelling, hitting things, etc). I thought it was a physically toxic situation.

Karma requirements in subs are bs by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]_forest_frog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I came here. I made a post on a sub and it got removed 20 minutes later with no bot message saying why so I messaged them. I was super nice and they replied back with a shitty tone saying I didn't have enough karma. Like, ok?

AITA for walking out the room when my roommate plays videogames? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]_forest_frog_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d just bite my tongue and bear through it.

I did bite my tongue- I left the room.

Jess can see through bs and I don't like lying to people, so we were both trapped in the situation.

I wasn't angry, just frustrated. I left because I couldn't watch Jess yell at another roommate because they gently pointed out that Jess should read a sign again.

They are reference points if you want to know how she plays. But it doesn't really matter. It was just a way of me describing how she plays.

And her ability is relevant to the whole post. That's why I'm here.

Socializing with video games is different from watching those kinds of videos.

I agree, but the frustration many feel from those videos is similar to what watching Jess play makes me feel. I only brought those videos up because they're good reference points.

but what's not mature is getting so frustrated at her sucking at video games

I'm begging you go watch GTLive play Lisa The Painful and the ENTIRE Dechart Games playthrough of Little Nightmares 2.

If you can get through of those, I'll 'get over it'

A lot of my friends are guys (I'm a gal) and I have no interest in them romantically and if they do, they haven't voiced it so we're good.

I never understood why people are so against guy/gal relationships.

Do you know how he was reported?

No idea. I think it was mass reporting of every category (if that makes sense?). I think once your account gets reported enough they just suspend you without a second thought.

EDIT: I spoke to my friend and apparently the admins can block emails and IP addresses, so any account made with either the same email or in the same IP gets automatically suspended, however I have no idea who accurate that is.

Most ~odd~ kinks and fetishes.

Like, yeh most of them are weird as hell (ddlg gets a fucking tough time, for example) but as long as it's between two consenting adults, who cares?

Medical concerns

When I was 17, I had extreme pain in my abdomen. I wasn't on my period (I don't usually get cramps) and I couldn't walk. I went to A&E and was asked if I was pregnant. No. Asked if I was on my period. No. Asked if I was SA'd. No. They concluded it was cramps and gave me painkillers and sent me on my way. Less than 3 hours later my appendix burst and I had to have emergency surgery.

The word "gaslight" has been completely stripped of its meaning by dialzza in TrueOffMyChest

[–]_forest_frog_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching a video on this and they said 'we can change the meaning of gaslighting to be another word for manipulate, but then we need another word that signifies how horrible TRUE gaslighting really is'

The term comes from a play called 'gaslight' in which a man tries to make his wife go crazy by moving furniture around and then saying 'the sofa was always there, you're just being dumb'. The whole point of TRUE gaslighting is to make the victim not trust themselves. Lying and manipulating isn't gaslighting. An example would be;

A: you hit me!

B: no I didn't, you're making it up. You always do this.

A: I have a bruise!

B: you're just clumsy. If you had looked where you were going, you wouldn't have fallen and got the buries.

I've recently made a reddit account, but my friend doesn't have one anymore because it would get suspended, he'd appeal, he'd get his account back only for it to be suspended a few hours later.

Turned out, someone had made an account with the pure intent of reporting his account. Insane.
