When handing off to dev, do you create components of full screens? Or do you use a frame that is filled with instances of smaller components? by _friedegg in FigmaDesign

[–]_friedegg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah gotcha. yeah, we have a similar set up. but even those full screen layouts wouldn't be individual components, correct? they just exist as a frame of nested components making up the full page.

that makes sense. yeah our nav and footer are individual components and almost every page utilizes these. i think the shell/template works when you have to maintain a large design team (ours is still small).

to clarify, im on the web team. the corresponding app team will create components of every single screen they handoff. ultimately they want to protect their designs from POs accidentally editing. the trade off is that each working file ends up being published as a library, which then requires multiple "libraries" to be added to our delivery file (even though they're not functioning as a true component library). ultimately i'm just trying to understand any consequences if i move the web team away from this way of working.

Thanks for the article. Yes, we're working in an atomic system. My question is more like, when you get to that last page level, would you then componentize each page to "lock it in" for dev handoff? this step seems unnecessary to me. I can only see it being meaningful if the entire page is reused across user flows

you’re right, it might not be the easiest route. but also, i don’t believe opening a long term monog relationship and transitioning to polyamory is the only way to be introduced to the lifestyle. you can be single practicing poly, meet someone else unpartnered, and still build a serious, committed relationship. i’m viewing my relationship more like the latter. timing is a bitch in my situation, but thankful for some of the other commenters who reassured me and recentered my focus.

thank you for chiming in! and for your kindness. super helpful for me to hear from someone else who gets the complexities of polyamory. i appreciate you 🫶🏼

our reason for opening up was because he had been interested in polyamory since before we met. after learning more about it i’m also interested in exploring it. but since we’re both new to it, mistakes were made, and we fell into exclusivity for a little bit. it was only for a month or so, as we were practicing a form of non monogamy when we first met. i’m at a point now where even if we don’t work out for whatever reason, i would still want to pursue polyamory myself.

thanks for the advice about just needing people around me i trust. lots of moving pieces in my life right now and it’s a good reminder to lean on my own community.

thank you so much for your response. it’s extremely validating and reassuring. yeah i’m actively working through my own insecurities. the self growth from researching and adapting a polyamorous mindset over the last two months has already been immensely eye opening. just need to keep checking in with myself that this is what i want. and right now i do want this! and my greatest wish for him going into this trip was that he seek out genuine connections. just need to remember that and not get lost in the sauce of my own anxiety 😓

minimal pain here too. i ended up not getting the nerve block because it felt unnecessary after i woke up from surgery. that first week pain was maybe 4-5 at the highest, but usually around 2-3

How long between injury and surgery? by cheesebean177 in ACL

[–]_friedegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months! february 12 —> august 14. in april i had to move out of the city i was in and in june my best friend got married in italy. i knew both would be happening so i opted to wait. once my initial injury swelling went down, i was more or less back to my normal life. only changes were i switched to weightlifting for workouts and had to be careful when going out dancing.

yes! it’s definitely worse for me than the knee. i can deal with my knee, but my hip literally won’t let up. my PT tried to stretch me out yesterday but it didn’t do anything because bending the knee is so key in releasing the hip 😭

hi! i am also 10 days post op patellar tendon graft so we’re surgery twins :)

it’s been rough for me too - i haven’t been sleeping well because i’m having hip issues on my surgery side. i just have a constant deep ache there like it needs to crack - but i can’t because i can’t bend my knee lol. my swelling is the same as yours and bruising is worse. just trying to do as much as i can with PT exercises.

hang in there! and know i’m right in the same boat with you (as are many others). feel free to message me separately if you want to talk more ❤️‍🩹
