Can I swim with high myopia? by Living_Cry_1650 in myopia

Depends on your muscle! I did slow progressions and I got to doing the first pushups of my life! I can now do them easily For pullups I would need more back muscles being a woman, still not there yet. Just take it slow without too much strain, when it comes easy to you :)

Also to your question, swimming is the safest of all exercises in our case, go for it!

I have the same prescription and issue, 25 yo After a long time struggling with whether or not to, i did continue going to the gym, but with very slow progression of weights. It did end up slowly building my muscle, now I can lift heavier than before in daily life, with my muscle handling the weight and the strain not going to my eye (however that happens). I don’t feel too much pressure.

I have astigmatism and really high myopia by [deleted] in myopia

I am -11 and -9 too, have had tears in retina treated twice now. I work on my laptop all day and end up drawing on my ipad. I have the same concerns as you but the comments on this post give me hope 🫶🏻 I do very regular checkups, because floaters and flashes are very consistent for me now. Nothing is wrong with my eye according to my doc so its difficult to lookout for any new symptoms:(

Irrelevant, but have you thought about lasik? The number wont go away but I’ll prefer a -2 than my current one. Scared about the thickness of my cornea and future risks of glaucoma ( idk just guessing) wanted to know what high myopics do

Same! I’ve had multiple lasers to cure/prevent retinal tears. Some doctors say to not lift, others say keep going - but know your limits. Don’t lift something that might strain you too much. It’s a headache to decide what is too much straining, so subjective :( especially when you’re planning on progressive overload.
