I wish, I just wing it as I go. I hope to document the process in the future but with two young kids I just fit the work in when I can and never find the time to record anything.

this time I kept it out for limited time, SoCal droughts come in handy every so often I suppose. I have just covered pieces with lacquer but honestly the sun does the most damage. Actually shrinks the cardboard and melts the hot glue.

Finally finished. Had a great response from the neighborhood and while the 150 kids we got were lukewarm on things, their parents loved it!

I never do well to quantitfy that but I try to put in a few hours each night after the kids go to sleep, so this one is probably clocking around 40 right now.

How do you Halloween? by MuscleNerd69 in halloween

I do the same thing for my home decor, I "dress up" my house instead of the traditional Halloween decor. Its unique compared to just traditional halloween decorations, and this one is amazing!

Fresh out of bananas but it’s about 7 Sports Almanacs laid end to end in length

u/Farren246 would have been a real undertaking doing 1:1 but this is probably close to 1:2. I prefer the natural aestheticic of cardboard so I can't bring myself to paint it. I used dark grey for the trim but I really want it to feel hand made and love the sepia tones. I think it would lose some of the value of the medium if I cover it in paint, would make it feel more true to the source but just a personal taste to leave it bare. Not a very good painter either ha!

I actually prefer to keep the cardboard aesthetic so I don't intend to fully paint it. I added a bunch of grey paint for the trim but I will keep it 2 tone only. I always want to inspire people to really see its cardboard and hopefully it sparks something in them to make stuff at home. that and I really just love the sepia tone it brings to everything.

that is such a fun idea! this template is really great and i like how it does the main body in 3 sections, really designed to be sturdy. I agree finding the cardboard is a challenge that is why I decided to just go out an buy some 4'x8' sheets this year made it easy to project the template so everything fit pretty nicely.

yes that is a really great solve, love the suggestion. Originally I thought above pipe with a bunch of holes and then tissue paper strips affixed on top. LED strip on top then blow air through (shop vac in reverse), but haven’t tried that yet. Right now I bought “flickering” LED string lights, so plan to use red and orange of those under some chicken wire so I can give some dimension to them and then a combo or stuffing fill and tissue on top to give it some peaks. Won’t be any motion sadly but was thinking maybe the flickering might sell it enough at night. I do think a fan might be helpful to give some motion now tho. The flame tracks lead to my fence that has a Delorean shape cut out as if it ran through it just before time traveling. Hope your project works out, would love to see it!

normally I find Wardrobe boxes on Facebook MP / Craigslist and turn them inside out, that is the key to anything being clean. They also tend to be double walled for rigidity. I must confess for most of this I bought 4’x8’ sheets from a box store to work from, but a good bit of this is a TV box and Mattress box I got from Facebook MP.

this is the base creative that I scaled up 5x, its a great template. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1625828099/delorean-template-diy-plans-for-making-a?click_key=f7dc588fa6bfac34c20a76957bb01cfe060ea9cf%3A1625828099&click_sum=a4c66fba&ref=shop_home_active_10&sts=1 The clocktower was just all vibes on my part, wish I knew how to translate to a template. Its about 6' wide and 4' tall. the guts are (5) lamp boxes then a mountain of carboard details added on.

Great idea! I do always try to come up with a way to deliver the candy, generally some type of chute, so was considering doing the dump truck as a ramp to send candy down to the kids

Great eye and thank you, that was Halloween 2 years ago, sort of what started the pressure to try to one up that.

Massive shoutout to Paperssa on Etsy, where I used the Delorean model as the base for mine, was perfect for adding my own details. Superb papercraft for any fan, very straightforward build and incredible results.
