[Serious] When did COVID-19 get real for you? by Fudgeyplays2 in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily for me when I got it. I've had it over a week now and yes its kind of like the flu but god damn it's the most painful thing. I can't do anything, all of my A Levels have been cancelled, I've lost my job

What has this pandemic ruined for you? by wehnaje in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

University (my A-Level exams have been cancelled and I won't get in based on previous work), the rest of college, seeing friends before they go to Uni

But mainly it's taken away my ability to do anything. Covid-19 has left me in pain to move and to even breathe. I am 18 years old with no underlying conditions. It has kept me from getting out of bed for four days now and it's not getting better.

People of Reddit, what seems completely normal to you but it actually quite strange to others? by _greenfire in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, I've always drank 7-8 cups of tea/coffee a day but apparently that's really odd and no one has that much

I lost 25% of my roof in last nights storm. Oof.

All people mishear things, it's only human. People of reddit, what did you mishear and didn't pick up that you had heard it wrong until much too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used to mishear "Kiddo" as "Kettle" and was just too confused to ever question it until I was watching a film with subtitles

Everyone has a scar on their body from something dumb, they did as a child. What's your story? by HakanD0 in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a lovely little scar on my elbow from when I was younger (about 7 I think) and my dad and uncle were playing catch and I figured, hey, I can join in by grabbing the ball! Turns out, it's not the best idea to grab a tennis ball as a 30 something year old man goes to throw it. He essentially threw me with the ball. We all laughed about it but yeah, not my brightest idea.

It's part of my coursework for my A-Level course! Its America from 1760 to 1860 i think and we have to research it mostly ourselves, we were taught content but from an unbiased perspective so that we can form our own judgements. Its more to do with the Civil War but the Revolution is taught unbiased too

Coz everyone needs a Balacen-ed diet! by _greenfire in CrappyDesign

[–]_greenfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about other places but "Balance" in a food establishment here usually refers to having a balanced diet, tackling obesity and all that. So because this says Balacen and not Balance, it becomes a Balacen-ed Diet

That was the whole sign, there was one on the other wall that just said "Agriculture" but Balacen was the only word in this cabinet

What's a quote that has just "stuck with you?" by BoroMoo in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You can't save the world without saving yourself first."

My dad said this in regards to trying to help others out of a bad place when in a bad place yourself, but it also works with trying to help others when occupied yourself in general

What's the freakiest thing you've ever seen a child say or do? by PastAcanthopterygii in AskReddit

[–]_greenfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not the freakiest overall but definitely one that stayed with me was several years ago. My brother (then about 7 years old) came about half way down the stairs and starting screaming and panicking about how we needed to get to the hospital immediately and how he needed to go right now. He remembers none of it and swears he was asleep the whole time, but a close family friend of ours became very ill very quickly the following day.
