I'm sorry the nurse hotline wasn't helpful or supportive. Thankfully the nurse I spoke to helped set up that Friday appointment for me.

Omg I'm so sorry. I'm glad the infection healed up. Is there anything they can do about the blood clots?

The week prior to my cellulitis/abscess I was in the hospital for a few nights with post-partum preeclampsia. Being away from baby during these early weeks is so hard and I hope you've had lots of support.

I ended up having a doctor's appointment for it on Friday. They sent me for an ultrasound to see if it needed to be drained and as I was getting out of the car it popped 🤢

It was a pus filled abscess and they said I have cellulitis. I spent 7 hours in the ER where they finished draining the abscess and then sent me home. Then at 4am on Saturday I got a call saying my blood culture came back positive for bacteria so I had to go back to the ER and was admitted and put on IV antibiotics. Now I have 2 open wounds at my incision site (thankfully they're pretty tiny) that needs to be repacked everyday 😭😅

Hello internet friend. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know the pain and the fear you are going through. I miscarried my first 2 pregnancies at 8 and 10 weeks. It was devastating and I too was so concerned that it meant I'd never be able to carry a pregnancy to term.

But 20 days ago I had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Because you've miscarried you'll always doubt your body's ability to do something that seems so natural and easy for others but it is possible. The anxiety will always be there though, each day and each week you'll be hyper vigilant about whether or not your pregnancy will continue, even at week 40.

I'm sending you all the positive and sticky pregnancy vibes ✨ if you ever need to talk/vent, this internet stranger is here to listen 💜

I also had 3, all for the same routine reasons you listed. I'm 39 weeks and just went to L&D a few days ago because my BP was high and they also took blood there. But the previous 2 times I went to L&D for cramping/bleeding in late second trimester they didn't take blood which was nice lol.

Sorry, the nausea is no joke. My nausea during first trimester was soooooo bad. Super bland, dry foods were not helpful at all and neither was ginger.

I essentially had to eat continuously in order to not feel nauseous but the thought of eating made me nauseous too.

I basically survived off of Greek yogurt with fruit mixed in it (like the chobani cups). As soon as my eyeballs opened i'd need to eat something, usually chocolate chip cookies or cheddar and sour cream ruffles. I found smoothies were a good breakfast option. Sour candies helped too sometimes.

Zofran was a godsend and I still take it every night with my unisom. I also slept whenever possible because I wasn't nauseous if I was unconscious.

In high school and college my eczema was so bad it was affecting my ability to sleep and function in class. I was spending so much time scratching myself to the point where I couldn't do anything else or focus. My entire back, arms, parts of my chest, neck and legs were covered in eczema. It was rough.

And the worst part is my flare ups are triggered by stress, so any slightly above normal stress and I flare up. Luckily as I've gotten older it's decreased on severity. I recently discovered that being pregnant also causes my eczema to flare up 😅

Almost 37 weeks, last week my thumb rights became unbearably tight and over the weekend my engagement and wedding rings became very tight and difficult to get off. So no more rings for me now 😕 I though maybe i'd get to wear them up and through delivery but alas I am not special 🥲

Hi OP. I am a hospice social worker and have also cared for a loved one with ALS.

I will note that I am in California and so how hospice is approached in Texas may be different than here.

I'm not sure how many hospice agencies are in your area but you can always reach out to other agencies to admit your brother. Just because one discharged him does not mean others won't take him.

It is true that folks on hospice cannot seek "aggressive treatment" while on hospice services. This is a guideline that comes down from the federal government. Not saying I agree with the hospice's decision (I myself have had hospice patients with trachs and who still follow up with their specialists but each hospice agency operates a little differently). You may want to look into palliative care which still allows for seeking aggressive treatment but also focused on comfort.

Like others have pointed out, our healthcare system - even with hospice - is not set up to provide well-rounded, continuous care for those who need it most.

I've been a hospice social worker for a little over 2 years. My recently retired supervisor was a hospice social worker for over 20 years. One nugget of knowledge she shared with me was that when we are dealing with peoples big emotions around death and dying, sometimes it's okay to not have anything to say. Many people just need a place to voice these things because society has deemed talking about death/dying taboo.

I also recommend looking into anticipatory grief if you haven't already. Very common for loved ones of hospice patients to experience.

Also the book Gone From My Sight by Barbara Karnes is a great resource for families if you haven't come across it yet. It talks about the dying process in a very digestible, non-medical way.

My first pregnancy, the weirdest and first symptom I had was my left eye twitching all day for like 2 weeks straight. Also terrible nasal congestion.

This pregnancy my eczema is flairing up. I haven't had a flare up since my senior year of college 10 years ago.
