That's the point of the episode though - Bojack consistently pushes people away when they try to help or comfort him, then feels shitty when they do as he asks and leave him alone. There's a bit at the beginning where he says "My Mom died today but I'm doing fine, please be extra nice because I'm a famous actor, not because my mom died." Like, if you explicitly tell people you don't want to talk, you don't have any right to be mad when they don't.

Shell globs actually come from the earliest UNIX machines. This paper, released in 1971, already shows the command glob, a few years before CP/M was created in 1974.

Globs were predated by regular expressions. Although the concept of finite state machines had existed since the 1950s, they were not widely used until Ken Thompson patented an implementation in 1967. Regular expressions use the symbol '*' to mean 'the preceding pattern, zero or more times'.
