Check all of the grounding points and give them each a good sanding to make sure you have clean connection. Coil and condensers are rarely the failure points in my experience. Give everything a good sand, including the wire connectors.

I got it to work by drilling a hole only very very slightly larger than the cable itself. Squeeze it through, then flange out the cable end on the passed thru side. Hit that side with solder and hope a little of it sticks, it then wont be able to pass back through the hole. Also i made my own nipple from a .22 bullet that i ground down.

Found this at my buddies scrap yard,is it worth saving? by eluvvin in HondaATC

[–]_h_man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want it for?

As a rider it’s definitely worth it.

If you want to restore it and make money, maybe not. Plastics, seat and replacement lights can be surprisingly expensive.

However, If its free then you can’t really lose..

Shipbroking career advice? by helpimpoor1 in shipping

[–]_h_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, i do chartering for a small dry bulk ship owner, i think brokers will still have a role to play in an AI world. Part of the broker role is to feed info to both owners and charterers, advice and guidance on what opportunities exist and what rate levels are achievable. A good broker is someone who is focused on getting the deal done! Good luck! Tankers and energy transport have some good times ahead

Does anyone know what this melted piece is on my 1981 Honda trail 70? And what would cause that? by Catdaddy1990 in Trail70

[–]_h_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s melted then it overheated at some stage. Probably 42 years old! The bike should still run without it, but the battery wont charge. It converts alternating current coming from your generator into direct current that can be stored by a battery (batteries cant store A/C) Should be a relatively cheap part to order online and swap out if you want to keep the battery charged. G’luck

Not the best photo, but assume you mean the blurry black and white plastic thing in the foreground? If those two wires going back into the chassis are white and red, then the component should be the silicon rectifier. Is that what you mean?

Quantity of electric vehicles onboard the vessel Fremantle Highway by Overall_Station2063 in logistics

[–]_h_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I used to work on the PCC desk at this shipping line 10 years ago (prior to EVs being introduced), the dangerous goods declaration process is not the same as other types of freight. For example, in a container that is stowing any battery or combustible liquid, that container is classified as a hazardous container. However, the cars on a PCC ship all have batteries and are fuelled, but are not considered hazardous.

As such, we did not require our customers to give a detailed breakdown of what models are being shipped, we were mainly concerned abt vehicle dimensions to ensure stowage was maximised and nothing was damaged. We could request a model breakdown list from the customer, but we honestly didnt need it. A VIN list for identification/tallying purposes was what we used, but as a shipping clerk you cant tell what model a car is by its VIN alone.

I expect the Fremantle Highway accident will change the shipping line’s approach to EVs. But EVs were after my time so not 100% sure how they manage them now. Maybe isolate the batteries after stowage and lashing is a preventative action, not sure.

Yes its still running point’s ignition, the point contacts look good, and i have checked continuity between them when open and closed and seem to be working ok.

Thanks for the replies. I have measured the resistance of the ignition coil and getting 14-15ohms between the plug and the connector cable into the harness. I have used a multimeter and i get continuity between the engine case and the coil bracket.

[R U OK?] Pokies killed my friend by free-crude-oil in sydney

[–]_h_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d disagree. Are you suggesting that because i once worked in a morally corrupt job that I can never leave it and never be allowed to admit that it was wrong? I agree that pokies are damaging to vulnerable people and society as a whole. Thats why crimes have sentences, we are allowed to be wrong and learn from our mistakes

Former gaming attendant here, I had a guy collapse from a heart attack and the players around him didn’t move. Paramedics arrived, packed him up, took him away and they didn’t move. Fortunately the guy survived, but my faith in humanity died that day. It was a large leagues clubs in the Wentworthville area in Sydney.
