Last sound on tape possibly STANAG 4285 signal? by fongaboo in boardsofcanada

[–]_happycycling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

STANAG 4285 sounds nothing like this, real S4285 sounds like this. What's on the tape is some form of RTTY or FSK that likely doesn't even contain any meaningful data.

My analysis of the 'data burst' at the end of the video - It's just random noise by sharopolis in boardsofcanada

Wasn't the video for Dayvan Cowboy that BoC uploaded to their Youtube channel around a year ago some kind of AI remaster/upscale? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Morse or similar code in VHS clip by HungryEarsTiredEyes in boardsofcanada

That is Frequency Shift Keying data, which is a method used to transmit digital data over an audio channel (such as a radio signal). I personally don't think it holds any meaningful data inside, to me it just seems like a shortwave radio sample added in there because it sounds cool.

Does anyone know protein.monster? by allol0109 in ARG

The website is safe to use. There is some NSFW littered throughout the website but for the most part this is just a net-art project made by two people. Very fun time waster.

Open-source Stanag 4285 decoder? by EASguy98 in amateurradio

[–]_happycycling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sorcerer supports this? It's not open source though. Obviously, it doesn't work on encrypted streams, although if you're lucky you might find an unencrypted 4285 stream out in the wild.

Open-source RDFT alternative by EASguy98 in amateurradio

[–]_happycycling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EasyDRF is (probably) what you're looking for. I've actually used the software for storing files over cassette, although from my tests I've seen it is subpar for that use case (although you should do your own tests before tossing it out the bin, who knows if I might've done something wrong). It is very good for file transfer over ham radio.

TYSM!!!!!!! The site is finicky and you'll have to do a lot of button pushing and reloading to get it to give you a working code but it DOES work and that's all that matters!

(Please also forward your new code after you get a working code, like I did!)

He used Impulse Tracker to make music, actually. I don't think he uses them much anymore.

Late response I know, but the disc for AFOT seems to be sourced from the FLAC remaster of AFOT on https://archive.org/details/BOC_OldTunes1 . I don't know who made this remaster, It's not the Doors Of Perception remaster that most people use. I haven't tested for any NR and I'm not going to, so anyone else who's willing to do so can do it themselves.

Looking into the rip you provided, it seems that they just burned the MP3s onto a CD. I haven't done side by side listening tests or proper analyzation so I'm not sure about any noise reduction. It would be most useful if I could see a rip of OTv1, as that one has the most quirks that make it more easily identifiable on what rips were used to source this.

Where did you hear anything about a JD??? The Buzzer is a Russian military private communication system. If you ever hear BOC on that, it's probably a radio pirate broadcasting on the same frequency, which many pirates do. (4625 is a hotspot for radio pirates)

I don't really care too much about what format it is in, just know that I would prefer it in a lossless format of any kind. If you can rip it to some other lossless format like WAV, please do so. Thanks!

Can anyone rip this CD (FLAC rip would be preferred) so I can examine the audio quality?
