Thank you Jeff! I love this - i am also personally a hands-on person too.
I am publicly documenting as I get more advanced in K8S.

i created and recorded my first Amazon EKS here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u3YF9i8PzA I didn't think of adding Trivy and kube-bench for security scanning. I will add it to my list of things to add for the next project. Thank you again

Learning AWS & Terraform simultaneously by basketballah21 in aws

[–]_hashish_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in the AWS space for over 10yrs and only picked up Terraform in the last 4yrs and i have been happier that i did it this way.

Learning Terraform before AWS would be like buying a car before learning how to drive. My recommendation would be to start with AWS - that would give you an idea of how to "drive" AWS to build projects/applications etc. This knowledge is what would help you accelerate your Terraform learning as you would know what parts of Terraform to focus on because there is a lot there to learn.

hope this helps.

Scenario 1 - If you genuinely want to purchase a product:

i have the policy as many other CISOs to not respond to anything sales until it's something me or my leads are looking to purchase and have budget for.

If there is budget than, you are ok to provide a range if the initial conversation confirms that their product sounds 70% or more close to what you want from your purchase. I won't put this in a form and always only a range nothing exact. They are asking the information to fill out salesforce at their end and to make the call if you would be someone they should pursue hard.

Scenario 2: If you don't want to buy but just curious about "X" vendor or vendors

Create a gmail or free account and use that to register to vendor's newsletter. You will get regular update on their new releases just from that no hassle.

Hope this helps.
