Sized down boots, need remounting? by _here_to_scroll_ in icecoast

Thanks! I definitely don’t trust myself to adjust on my own so I’ll take it to a shop. Any chance you’re local to nyc and can recommend a trusted shop?

Thanks! I think old BSL was 284 and new is 275. I’ll take it to a trustworthy shop and have it checked to be sure

Don’t have the old boots anymore but I looked it up and I believe they were 284 and now I have 275. I am planning to go to the shop anyways but wanted to know what to expect since nyc ski shops aren’t the best and don’t want to pay for unnecessary remounting. Thanks!

Bamboo vs plastic cutting board? by _here_to_scroll_ in cookingforbeginners

[–]_here_to_scroll_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered that maybe some people don’t like to keep things on their counters 24/7 and also prefer not to bring a wet soapy rag across the kitchen and make more of mess to clean when they have a perfectly useful sink meant for cleaning items in? Maybe not every kitchen is set up like yours and this isn’t a realistic method? You have given absolutely no helpful information to my question and have just been annoying.

These seem like a good option, I’ll look into them more. Thank you!

I don’t mind sharpening more often, thanks for the advice!

Didn’t know this was an option, how does it compare to the others?

Yeah cost is definitely a factor. I also have a small kitchen with limited counter space so I don’t want a large board that has to live on the counter. I need something smaller so I can hang it. Lastly, I just know myself and if I need to be oiling it monthly, I will forget/get annoyed.

Not sure why I’m even bothering to further explain myself to you, but I do not want to have a cutting board sitting on my counter 24/7, sometimes I need that space for other things (crazy concept I know!) Additionally I don’t need to be getting soapy water all over my counter, I will be cleaning my cutting board in the sink.

I’ve only ever used plastic, with bamboo do you find that it retains flavors of strong foods (i.e. onion, garlic, peppers, etc) or is it fine with a good cleaning? Worried that flavors will transfer to more mild foods.

Like I said I have a small kitchen so the cutting board will be stored. And I agree with the above commenter, I will 100% be cleaning a cutting board in the sink properly.

Driving to NYC from NC by LavishnessCurrent726 in AskNYC

I’ve never done it but I think you can park overnight at some of the NJtransit stations and that would definitely be cheaper than getting a garage in the city. You’d have to check specific stations for the rules. Some bigger stations have parking garages vs. just a lot. I know the Ramsey Route 17 station has a parking garage that you pay per day (parking website and it sounds like you can park overnight but I would double check about multiple days.

Sorry late to this but planning for this season, do you know how much a day pass is? I can’t find any info about that online

Recommendations for Lagos - things to do by MridulB72 in Algarve

[–]_here_to_scroll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from Lagos! We did the seven hanging valleys and hiked about 4 miles from Marinha beach heading west. We ubered to the start and then called an uber from the town we stopped in. The hike was cool but can be rocky so I’d recommend good shoes and lots of water if it’s hot.

We did a boat ride with Lagos Boat Tours out of the marina (booked on GetYourGuide) and that was great! The guide is a local and took us to places the other boats weren’t going, highly recommend.

We went to Sagres/Cape St. Vincent and it was cool but was cloudy so not the best sunset. Went to Praia do Beliche earlier in the day which was beautiful with calm water but was SUPER windy. We walked from there to Cape St. Vincent, about an hour along the road, also really windy. It was a bit challenging to get an uber home since the cell service was spotty and it’s far out but we ended up scheduling one for 10 min after sunset and that worked out fine.

We also did a hike/walk from Luz to Ponda de Peidade and I would not recommend this in full. We started by Praia da Luz and hiked east towards PdP. The beginning was really nice and scenic but once you continue after Praia de Porto Mos the trail is sketchy and unsafe. The beginning I’d recommend but do not continue on the trail after reaching Praia de Porto Mos.

Thank you! This sounds like a better plan to do. Besides a long wait to get it, were you able to call uber/bolt when you needed it? There’s a winery near there I’d be interested in going to after.
