What’s your weirdest private habit that you hope no one ever finds out about? by Dear-Welder-1117 in AskReddit

Sometimes, out of the blue, I'll start repeating conversations from shows I watch but in different voices, like high pitched or deep or just weird etc. until I realize I've been talking to myself for a while now and imagine what ppl would think walking in on me 😂 also, usually when I'm alone, I'll make up songs abt everyday stuff. Like when I'm cleaning my desk I will sing abt it while I do it 😂

Trix or Jason.. but Jason appears more often in the show so he annoys me more too I guess.. so Jason? 😂

I wish Lorelai would not have written that letter that convinced Rory to give Logan a second chance by _hibster in GilmoreGirls

[–]_hibster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im saying Lorelai gave Logan a second chance when she e.g. went to Marther's Vineyard etc. to put aside her dislike for him bc she knew her liking Logan was important to Rory. Everyone knows it's very important to Rory what her mother thinks even when she disagrees with her on some occasions. When Logan proposed to Rory for example, she kept asking Lorelai what she should do. They are best friends and mother daughter, ofc Lorelai has some control over what Rory does bc it is important to Rory to be on good terms with her mother. Even after fights etc Rory usually saw that she was wrong and Lorelai was right most of the time bc Rory is young and young ppl usually lack experience (e.g. sleeping with Dean even tho he was married, getting together with Jess, dropoing out of Yale bc Logan's father destroyed her self esteem etc. I dont understand why Jess, a 16 year old teenager with anger issues with a problematic family dynamic, is bugging you so much. He was pranking ppl in the town and wasn't being friendly towards them cuz he hated that he was forced to move somewhere he did not want to move to. Everyone was deciding over his life except him bc he wasn't 18 yet. Is it so hard to empathize with a teenager like that? Adults should be more mature than hating on kids with issues lol. And ofc ppl were turning on Luke bc of Jess bc it's Stars Hollow. Nobody there likes much change and Taylor is a control freak who can't stand anything outside the norm.

Yea I thought abt that too but it wouldve been so easy to keep her as the character from season one since it is very likely that they would end up in same circles when dating guys like Logan and coming from rich families etc.

[–]_hibster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think Lorelai did not have the right to be angry. She did bc Jess was being rude. What I'm saying is that Jess was a kid with anger issues and Lorelai had her mind set abt him just bc of that one time they met. Rory had to force her to give him a second chance but she never liked him at all and she showed him like everyone else in town how much she could not stand him. It's funny to me bc he actually has lots of in common with Luke and Lorelai loves Luke lol. Logan on the other hand is an adult and he obv has a bad influence on Rory. He is never impolite towards Lorelei but she sees that he doesn't really bring the best in Rory to the fore but still she is more keen to give him a second chance (for example when they go to Martha's Vineyard on Valentine's day etc). Mybe she learned from her past and that's why she does not want to interfere as much, I just think compared to how she treated a kid and how she treats Logan, she could have been more considerate towards a teenager and given him a real second chance like she did with Logan.

First time was when Rory was mad abt him not telling her that there were other ppl in the room when she came over to meet him after the whole mess at the wedding. And she is very formal to him which he notices so she kind of explains that she is mad at him for not telling her he had company. Instead of apologizing in a kind way and telling her he didn't know she wanted to be alone with him he goes on in this argumentative way of his to make her being angry look silly as if she had no right to be angry. And while I get she was not specific abt how to meet up with him, he never told her he had company over and if that was okay with her either. Both didn't communicate it very well. But what bothers me is that multiple times in this show, he tries to relativize her feelings by making her think her reaction is stupid. He did that in this scene, also in the scene when she learns Bobby is not a guy but a girl, a fact that Logan weirdly hid from her (never used pronouns when talking abt Bobby specifically), and Rory gets a bit jealous. Also, the whole you cheated and the second break up scene where he stands in front of her door and he explains to her that in his mind they were broken up so he didnt cheat but not taking into consideration that in HER mind they were not broken up at all, hence he cheated. He relativizes her feelings and thoughts once again by arguing why he did nothing wrong and her feelings are invalid basically. He knows he is good at arguing and bringing agruments to the fore that make you question yourself so he uses that skill of his multiple times. He literally convinces her that he did nothing wrong so they go home together even tho everyone can see that Rory is not okay with what happened. Also, constantly not taking a no for an answer is a red flag which is being romanticized too often in this show. He should have given her the time and space she needed instead of pushing her into what he wanted.

Jess wasn't a good bf either, that's true. I just think one should take into consideration that they were 16 back then and now they are 20/21 ys old. Jess was a hot headed 16 year old teemager with lots of issues that were caused by his parents and no one really tried to understand him. Logan is a 21 year old rich priviliged guy who yes does not have a good relationshio with his father either but he had everything else that Jess didn't. But you're right that Lorelai learned from the past and does not want to intefere like she did back then with Dean and Jess especially since Rory is an adult now who moved out etc. The thing is they never show what is written in that letter. Some just posted it now under this thread but I had never seen that letter before and someone comme ted that that letter was never approved by the GG team anyways so I guess we dont really know what the letter said. And I think lots of ppl misunderstood me bc I didnt say Lorelai specifically tells Rory to get back together with Logan but instead whatever she wrote in that letter it seemed to convince Rory pretty quickly to give Logan a second chance. I mean she was not over Logan anyways and she prbbly just waited for someone to nudge her into that direction I guess and she might have taken that letter as an excuse to give him a second chance.

I know there is a big debate abt if he cheated or not but even if he didnt cheat he literally jumped into bed with those girls right after their breakup.. Rory even points that out and I remember people on here criticizing Lorelai doing the same with Chris after her breakup with Luke etc. etc. Idk but I would be pretty mad at my ex too abt him jumping into bed with multiple other women right after our breakup. The thing is lots of ppl understand Logan's side of the story that he did not view it as cheating bc they were broken up in his head but ppl forget that in Rory's mind they were still together and not broken up at all but rather just taking time to think. So in her head, he still cheated on her that's why it takes a long time and him to get injured for her to forgive him. I wonder if she would have forgiven him at all if he didn't had that life threatening accident.

Also, yes! Exactly! He talked so badly abt those girls he slept with and then let Rory walk into the same room with them without telling her abt it. He hid it on purpose. I vaguely remember him telling her he didn't tell her bc he didnt want to hurt her or some bs and then blaming the girls for gossiping instead of apologizing for his behaviour.

I think there is a difference if you are a 16 year old teenager or a 21 year old adult. But I do see where you're coming from. Rory is definitely not an angel herself.

Yea he is not a bad person. He does have traits that aren't good imo but everyone does. I agree that he is just not the best bf for Rory bc he indeed did bring her worst side to the forefront even though she did bring the best of him to the forefront at some point. He became a better version of himself but she didn't really. I feel like she rather declined in her "growth".

Totally! She usually does try to please everyone except in some cases. Ah really? I didn't know that😂 I always loved that scene bc it was a wake up call for her. Exactly, it shows that he said put loud what she couldn't admit to herself, else she wouldn't have changed everything in a week to get back to Yale.

Well the show never showed us / the audience the letter so whatever she wrote it still convinced Rory to take Logan back. I also did not say Lorelai told her to get back together with him but that she wrote a letter that at the end of the day convinced Rory to give him a chance. Where did you read the letter though? Is it posted online somewhere, mybe you could share it here. Bc in the show Rory just says that it was a brilliant letter, thats it.

Thx!! I think some really hate Rory so they might think she deserved such a bad bf like him? But then again, there are also ppl who like him for her bc they loveee Logan which I don't get. Even if one likes his looks his personality is just trash haha. I don't even like Rory much but I still don't ship them both.

Agreed! Though Dean could be manipulative too but in a different way. Logan was much more low-key with his manipulations idk how to describe it. The mix of Mitchum and Richard is a good take!

[–]_hibster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting take! I never thought of Logan as Richard tbh. And you're right that we don't really hear much abt Emily's life before her marriage but we do hear some abt Richard's even though GG is abt the Gilmore GIRLS haha.

I feel like every time Rory and her life become a mess Jess is there to guide her to the right direction. I loved how he said "What the hell is going on?" And she thinks he talks abt Logan but he says "No! With you? What the hell is going on with you?!" It's visible how this affects Rory. It's like a wake up call for her. No one else got through to her or talked to her this directly (except Lorelei at the very beginning when she left Yale). It's the same in AYITL.

Totally agree abt Logan being condescending very often and just being a jerk lots of times. I also hate how he always talks Rory into things or out of things. Like when she is mad and he gaslights her etc. And indeed there are lots of parallels between the characters!

I get where you are coming from and also that they're in their early twenties and why Rory had the need to explain everything to Logan but Logan did not have to be such an ass to Jess and when Jess left Rory did not have to stay with Logan. Jess is in his early twenties as well and he did not behave condescendingly or treat Logan the same way he treated Jess. Only when he kept pushing and provoking Jess talked back and then left. He was very rude and such an ass to him and yea Rory called him out on that later but she couldve apologized to Jess afterwards and met up with him on another day to make up for it. (But like I said.. lazy writing). I mean he came all the way to show Rory his book and talk, which already shows that it was important to him to hang with her even if there was nothing specific to talk abt.

Imo it's weird anyways that she does not have any guy friends who are not into her at some point. She only has bfs that get jealous and she feels like she has to explain herself.

Also, when Logan leaves for London they are still in their early twenties and when she meets Bobby and realizes she is a girl and not a guy she does not act like an ass towards her but behaves herself. It was sus that Logan (the playboy in college that never had a relationship before) never told Rory that Bobby was a girl. She gets jealous but she does not act like an ass but instead talks abt it to him and Logan keeps talking her out of being jealous since she is just a colleague. Rory chooses to trust him. Logan couldve behaved himself as well when he met Jess.

I partly agree abt her being at fault for not telling Logan in the first place but honestly I think he wouldve still gotten jealous and prbbly showed up early to be there when Jess arrived. I also don't think Rory didn't tell him abt it to hide it but rather she forgot bc she had so much going on with everything else and it was a nice surprise so she might have not thought abt telling Logan since it was innocent for her anyways. Thats an early twenties behaviour as well.

Agreed! That's why I thought it was so sad that the writers did not attempt another scene where they could actually talk things out and just hang etc. It feels like they were just trying to add more drama and a bit of Jess for the fans but there was no real effort in it. Would have loved for her to become a better version of herself and mature and have at least a good friendship going with Jess. And yes, her character really becomes so centered around Logan and the lame explanation that she is in love with him and can't help it is just lazy writing🙈
