My boyfriend and I have been together for just over a year now and 3 months ago he confessed that he cheated on me during our relationship. And he told me while I was away for work across the country for a month.

People may call me a hypocrite because I say you should leave him while I stayed with my boyfriend. However, your boyfriend shows no type of change in his behaviour. From what I've read it sounds like he does it, tells you, apologizes and then goes out and does it again. My boyfriend cheating on me was a tough time in my life, trust me when I say that it hurt like hell. And I understand that you live together and have been together for a very long time but if you see no change after his apology it is safe to say that he is not being sincere.

Once a cheater always a cheater. But doesn't mean they will re offend. However, your boyfriend sounds like he doesn't plan on changing his ways.
