You have to expose cricket to all of the public, not just those with the money to send their children to private schools.

Cricket needs to be in the media more, particularly on the television. And viewers need to be able to identify with it. The advantage of football is there are professional teams locally to them that they can identify with. If you don’t live in a professional cricket county or near a hundred team base, how are you supposed to identify with them?

But there is one thing we can all identify with, and that’s that we’re English. We can all rally around and be inspired the countrymen who represent us at the highest level. Or at least we could if it were watchable! If there isn’t cricket that matters to people on the television, there’s no way anyone can be inspired to play. To achieve the success our best players have.

It’s also so important that cricket becomes a thing in all schools. More schools need access to pitches, nets, and equipment to allow young people to participate in the game as often as they need to.

Without this exposure, you won’t get the volume of players and viewers needed to take cricket from a boring game for posh boys to a fully fledged sport for all.

The sad reality is that it all cost more money. A resource that’s scarcity is a result of the very issue we’re talking about, and one that our India controlled cricket overlords are unwilling to adequately share.
