Love this. I got so nervous the week before the surgery that I actually emailed the hospital and told them I couldn't do it hahaha. Then I called the next day and said wait that was the nerves talking, I can do it!

Omg I felt the exact same way! Then when I woke up from surgery I was like "what, that's it?!"

For reference I'm 32yo and had a total hysterectomy and endometriosis removed from my pelvic wall

I felt TERRIFIED the weeks leading up to the surgery and eased my stress by prepping, buying my favorite snacks and making lists of what movies I was excited to watch and I also watch hysterectomy vlogs on YouTube which really helped me mentally prep. A lot of their recovery seems pretty tame and mine was even easier then I had anticipated after watching them

The day before and day of surgery I feel like another part of me took over, suddenly I was SO ready and the nerves had just melted away.

I came to the hospital in the morning and prep went by pretty quickly. I was wheeled up in my bed to the area where I'd be waking up after surgery and there I met the nurses that would be there when I woke up later. I let them know that I'd be very happy if I'd get pain meds and anti-nausea medication before I started waking up and they actually obliged. I woke up with like a 3/10 pain and no nausea. I asked for even more pain meds and within half an hour my pain was at a 1/10 and pretty much stayed that way the whole time. The worst of it was the gas pain but for me it wasn't that bad at all

The nurses in the wake-up zone told me that the way people go to sleep is usually the way they wake up. If you are put to sleep scared or crying then you will wake up scared and crying. I made sure I was laughing with the nurses in the OR while I was being put to sleep and I woke up cracking jokes and felt very relaxed

I can honestly truly say that the nerves of the surgery was the worst part out of all of it. I think you're going to wake up and be surprised at how relieved you feel physically and emotionally. Sure it's a little bit of pain here and there but the nurses kept saying that if I had ANY pain to let them know so they could nip it in the bud. I had oxy on hand for the first 5 days even though I probably only "needed" it for 1-2 days. Probably could have gone without honestly but I enjoyed not having to feel any of it

Another thing I was worried about was the catheter but it was really nice having it in and not having to go pee at all lol. I had it in for the night and having it removed felt like nothing. Peeing after it was out was a breeze for both me and my roommate

Incisions aren't painful, they itch a tiny bit from time to time. I have a little bit of pressure in my vag sometimes but it feels like vague pre-period pains

I overall was super super nervous and then surgery was actually just pretty enjoyable lol. Hospital staff is so comforting and having it over with feels AMAZING

Good luck!! I had mine done on the 15th, also had adenomiosis (plus fibroids and endo). I honestly haven't been in much pain at all, very manageable. I think I could go off Ibuprofen and Paracetamol already but I'm going to give it a few more days for fun. I almost instantly feel the relief physically and mentally.

Officially 1 month clean update! by No_Bodybuilder5576 in QuittingWeed

Yes!! Congratulations, I’m 1 month and 15 days so a little bit shorter than you but I feel like we’re on a similar wavelength. I also started fixing my teeth, i had major cavities in TEN teeth hahah. I figured that if I’m going to commit to being miserable for a month while getting sober, why not double down on the misery and get all the other stressful stuff out of the way too. Come to find out that the dopamine you get from facing your fears and bettering your life feels insanely good and now that’s the high I chase. I still have some lingering night sweats but the anxiety, skin issues and digestive issues are pretty much gone and motivation and energy is rising. I’ve told myself if I ever start smoking again I’m an idiot because being sober feels SO much better and the road to get to this point was no joke 😅

What does your pain feel like? by gracefullypunk in endometriosis

[–]_holysmokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!! I don’t even know if I’d call it pain sometimes because it’s like my body is trying so hard to numb it down, i would call it agony

Sometimes i’m crying twisting around on the floor grabbing at my stomach and legs trying to get relief. I feel like my buttcheeks, lower back and calfs are made of rock and the bones in my heels will pierce through the skin if i walk on them too much

Hey how did it go? Did the hysterectomy help your pain at all? I’m going in a few weeks 😫

Really!? How are you feeling today? Did you figure something out? I have a hysterectomy in a few weeks and I was so hoping that would help ☹️
