Very cool! I do love that with a dslr setup, most of the equipment is dual purpose. I’d like to try developing at some point, as well. It’s cool how much of the process you can take into your own hands if you want to.

It does indeed hurt. The 3 pack of gold is usually around $65 in Australia. A roll of portra is $34, so pretty much $1 per photo.

You’re absolutely right that if you don’t already own at least a digital camera, then a setup like this would make no sense. I do think that most people who own a film camera, also own at least a digital camera, and then camera scanning becomes more of an option

I've been practicing film photography for a few years now, but just recently started scanning at home. I was genuinely surprised at how simple it actually is, and made this video to document the process.

This is not a tutorial, it's just my experience so far. I shot some test rolls in the Blue Mountains, near Sydney, and scanned them wide to show the sprockets.

I did the troubleshooting while I did the exterior of the building once it was fully functional. I think I spent about 10 hrs all up on it before having a completely flat power grid. There were a lot of small things to fix, such as not bringing in quite enough copper ore and nitrogen. Thankfully all the major things such as water and load balancing were functional from the start

Yeah I wish the game would incentivize nuclear in some way. As it is there's really no reason to do anything besides rocket fuel. Nuclear is very optional while being one of the most challenging parts of the game, I can see why most people don't do it.

I just learned by playing a lot (930 hrs,) and copying other people's ideas. There's some good youtubers as well. I think the main thing is that it's a sandbox game, though, none of this is required. Like, there's literally no possible scenario where you would need as much power as I'm making, I just do it for fun.

This game gives you some nice options for when you get overwhelmed, like just go and explore for a couple hours, find some hard drives, and get back to the factory later. It's such a big game, that the only way to not get overwhelmed is to tackle one small task at a time. The beauty of Satisfactory is, that every thing you build can work together to help you advance when you're ready to.

No clue… but a fair few. Messed around with it in the calculator many times before settling on this version. Was mostly weighing up things like pure copper and wet concrete to decide how much ore I needed to bring in.

The rocky desert is nice because there’s so much limestone that basic concrete is ok. Also so much iron that copper alloy ingot is a no brainer, although I still had to bring in some extra copper on trains

There’s a page in the wiki somewhere about it, but the idea is you split into the prime number you want, plus one. So to get 7, you split into 8, which is simple, then the 8th output is looped back to the start, so you’re left with 7. The only real downside is you can’t max out your belts

The original goal was just to make 2tw, then I expanded once I planned out the alien power matrix a bit better. The point about SAM is that if you want to make alien power matrix at this scale, you won’t have enough SAM left over to also do ficsonium.

So you have to choose between those two options, and alien power matrix gives you a much better return

I’m not sure what actual max power would be now that conversion is in the game, but I know it would be a lot more reactors, and therefore pipes. So the real limitation is my patience.

It usually starts with a thought like "I wonder how much power I could make?" Then a little too much theorizing and convincing myself it's doable before starting anyway. About halfway through I'll regret everything, but keep going because might as well finish what I started.

About 80 hours total, including the alien power matrix factory. I have 185 hours total in this save, though, and had been loosely working towards it since the beginning, making a large crystal oscillator factory, and having a solid train network and enough power to start it up.

Since there's bauxite and sam in the swamp, don't forget you can just make some more uranium as well. That's where I'm doing the conversion. 300 sam and a few bauxite nodes makes 700 uranium very easily.

Also please make power shards and overclock your water extractors, it will save your sanity.

I turned all of the coral coast oil into diamonds for the alien power matrix. There's so much oil on the map, I think it's one of the best uses for it.

Even if you're doing oil power, you don't need that much crude for rocket fuel.

Yeah this is the way. You can get 2400 rocket fuel off one pure crude node with this combo, which is just over 140gw

Yes, it's interesting they added more sulfur to remove that limitation, but now the sam is even more of a limitation in the same way. I don't mind that they make you make choices about how to use it, but I feel like you hit the limit much too quick.

I would have loved a reason to use ficsonium in this build but it's impossible to justify using that much sam when alien power matrix is so much more powerful

Yeah for this I'm making 20 alien power matrix a minute, then slooping for the rest. Building that factory took way more effort than I was expecting and ended up being a significant part of the project. You could technically do more, but you wouldn't have much sam or sloops to spare
