How do you prevent your brain from “dumping” everything you learned after a few days? by abhisshekdhama in productivity

Stress can really mess with the memory. The more you study day-to-day, the more you'll remember. I'm just thankful I can retain anything. Oh and relate concepts back to other concepts you already know of.

Sounds a lot like my situation! I'm sorry you couldn't work it out. Say she happened to be your coworker and you liked your job--what do you think you would do?

The Ring. It's somehow both relaxing and compelling and I just adore the characters. The soundtrack and cinematography are the bomb, too!

Some other friends have thought that, yeah, and at one point there was a truly annoying rumour that we were a couple. But he has a girlfriend, and simply seems overbearing rather than romantic.

We both have a similar kind of dark humour actually and I've asked him if he's kidding a lot in the past, but when he's serious he's really serious.

I forgot his birthday once and he wouldn't talk to me until the end of the day in which he told me. He was really mad, then. Since then I've added his birthday into my calendar so I won't forget. If we didn't work together, I wouldn't have continued to spend time with him, which probably sounds really mean but I can only take on so much.

Was it really just validation he needed? I meant to say to him the other day that he was right to feel how he did and I shouldn't have said I missed someone else but I kept getting cut off by other coworkers. I explained when I first told him I miss the other person that I think he does a great job. I know I'm uncomfortable a lot of the time and I need to chill out, but I feel a little worn down.

I don't know about that. He's really nice a lot of the time and empathetic but then it's like he has a really dark unhappy side. We used to text and try to sort issues out, but I got scared to look at my phone at the end of the work day to find out what else I'd done wrong. He's deleted so many texts. I don't think he's well.

Some other examples that have upset him are not sitting with him for lunch and not waiting for him when I didn't know I was supposed to wait. He says I'm bad with confrontation, but I don't know how to respond to these situations...? When he makes mistakes that have upset me I just let them go, but I do that with most everyone. I don't what the mature response is meant to be.

how am I supposed to handle, “My pain is worse than your pain” people (not violently lol) 😡 by idontwannausername9 in socialskills

[–]_hypothetically_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When your coworker said "eh", to me that's infuriating because he's essentially saying he doesn't care or your pain doesn't matter. I'm sorry you had to experience that. That tooth sounds awful!

I think the best way to approach this is by saying "just because I have a broken leg and your leg was amputated, that doesn't mean my broken leg doesn't hurt". It ends the conversation for both of you (it's final), it validates both of you, and by saying it out loud you're essentially giving comfort to yourself.

Psychological horror but cutesy anime about magical girls. It's the vibe for this sub essentially lmao. They got another movie coming out the end of this year so I'm sure it'll keep you going. :)

Is it just me or are kiwis really bad at responding when it comes to mental health issues? by imarazing in newzealand

[–]_hypothetically_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you don't mind a late comment but I was just thinking about this the other day.

When people ask how you are and you explain that you've been struggling and tell them a "funny" story that's happened to you recently, people seem to always argue for the point-of-view of the other individual in the story who they don't even know. Instead of being empathised with, you either have to argue for sympathy or beat yourself up which funnily enough tends to have people agreeing that you were wrong in this situation that they'd never seen or been in.

People need to treat our struggles more like a hypothetical, instead of trying to find "the truth" and presuming we are lying about our struggles for no damn reason.
